Hey all,

I'm in a flare due to mesalamine intolerance as you know. My GI ordered an MRI enterography to check on things overall due to delay in getting a colonoscopy (covid). MRI enterography showed that colon looked normal, no inflammation ("Colon is normal in caliber, and displays a normal haustral pattern"). I'm confident i'm having mild or even moderate inflammation.

Can this be missed on an MRI enterography or unlikely?

Yes it can be missed if rectal inflammation or if it’s mild . I think it works better for the small bowel to rule out Crohns . I had one a few years ago and it was normal but a sig scope showed mild inflammation thru the sigmoid. My doctor did tell me that a normal MRI was very encouraging and assumed the colon inflammation was mild. I hope this helps.

Mine definitely showed a lot of signs of inflammation. Maybe things are mild. That's a good thing!
