Hi all,

Hope everyone is keeping well!!

I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced this.

I’m down to 15mg of pred (yay!) due to taper down to 10mg on Wednesday and had my 3rd infliximab infusion on Thursday. I have been doing well. I’d say my stools are not really solid but formed and I go once a day. The past few days I’ve had much looser stools and tiny drips of blood on the tp a few times & of course I’m worried I’m going back into a flare. I feel so much better so I’m just worried I’m back sliding and the infliximab isn’t working for me.

If healing has taught me anything it’s not
A straight forward line but it’s just so hard to tell what’s a blip and what’s a warning sign! Ugh.

Would love to get some thoughts and experiences.

Thanks v much

Glad to read that you are better, I remember you had a terrible time not long ago getting treatment. A lot of times when tapering steroids symptoms will pop back up & you may need to go back up for a bit. I don't think the Infliximab is not working, I think it's the taper.

It's tough dealing with it, however, the good news is you are doing better. Take care.

I always struggle with the drop in pred, what I found helped me was alternating doses, 15mg one day, 10 the next, and then repeating that step once more before going down to 10. It adds a couple of days, but seems to help my body adjust. Hope you keep improving as you taper!

Also consider you’re early on with your infusions after only 3. With entyvio I struggled a bit in the 8 week timeline between the loading doses and the first 8 week interval. Rectals during those times are a great help. Sounds like you’re on the right path but may need to slow down the taper for a bit until you get more infusions.

When i was tapering below 15 mg i broke tablets in half so that i could do 12.5mg, 7.5mg etc. I think i dropped 2.5mg every 2-3 weeks. Below 5mg i went in drops of quarter tablets. My dr didn't believe it made a difference but i could really feel it.
