Probiotics are not a cure for UC...you have it for life.

The probiotics I use are a continual. I still flare occasionally, albeit very mildly.

I misunderstand how you would think it a cure. If it were, we would all be on them and never have it again. Treatment doesnt equate to cure unless it was a curable disease.

No cure...but treatment as improvement of symptoms is subjective. When I flare, I increase the dosage. I also increase rectal meds dosage.
I go into remission. No cure.

I try to monitor my diet for foods that trigger inflammation, e.g. gluten and shellfish etc., but sometimes I will still notice stools becoming less formed and more frequent. In my experience, after having ulcerative colitis for over a dozen years, that is a sign that a flare may be brewing.

That is when I take extra probiotics, along with psyllium seed, Seems to work, usually bowel movements quickly become normal again. Following this regimen along with diet I haven't had a flare in years.

But it is important to find a compatible probiotic. For example Culturelle used to work wonders for me but that was before they added excipients to the formula.
