Hi everybody my name is Faith and I was recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and I’ve been flaring for a month now. I have started my treatment plan towards remission but my GI stated it could take weeks because of how severe my case was. Are there things that I can do to help myself get towards remission or any advice altogether about the disease. I would love the support because this is new to me and I just want some support through this

hi Faith - welcome - and sorry you had to join us :-(

what meds are you currently taking ?

my only advice atm, is to take a look at the AIP diet - i understand making drastic eating changes can be a challenge, but at least try to eliminate some of the foods indicated in the protocol - you don't need to go big - baby steps are the preferred method -

i have contained my UC for the last 10+ years by following a diet very similar to the AIP - every one is different in how their body deals with UC, and fortunately for me, my eating choices have made my colon pretty content -

hang in there - it will get better smile

I’m currently taking mesalamine orally and a suppository along with iron pills, suppository hydrocortisone, heart medication and a muscle relaxer. I have been doing an elimination diet to see if I can have a happy colon and it’s not easy because this is me to me but I’m willing to try
