Well I am in the suds again and need some help.
I have both UC/Crohns disease with rectovagina fistula. I had a colostomy 2016, hernia repair and colostomy relocated 2019, 2020 has been constant UTIs. They believe it is from drainage from the Hartmanns Pouch, and RVF...and there is a possibility of fistula to my bladder or kidneys. 3 CT scans show 4mm kidney stone that has not moved...but does not show the RVF (which you can see with your eyes it is so large) or a fistula in the bladder/kidneys.
Waited to get Pfizer vaccine, now scheduled for surgery to fix hernias, remove Hartmann Pouch, possibly remove rectum and anus. CRS stated he does not know if it will be LAR or APR.
It will be
open surgery lasting up to 3 to 5 hours. I may need a second one in 3 to 6 months to finish it up. My concerns are stents, what to expect regarding the back end operation...(healing time, wound and pain control, timeframes and supplies I may need at home.) So far the hospital is stating they won't know what I will need until AFTER surgery...but I need to be prepared.... My spouse cannot do blood/urine/wound care.
Has anyone had any of these surgeries and have any suggestions?
