I need some easy, high calorie meal replacement shakes. Not Ensures or Boost. They have to have healthy ingredients. Most ones on the market have high fructose corn syrup and dairy in them.

I found Kates Farms to be really good, but expensive, and I can't seem to get them in Canada. Does anyone here have other recommendations for meal replacement shakes?

I can't do dairy, high fructose corn sryup, or anything in the wheat family.

Why not make them yourself? Can you have nuts and soy? Maybe you will find these useful.

Chocolate + Almond = Take a blender jar and put 1 tbsp unsweetened almond butter, ⅓ banana, 1 tbsp of instant coffee, 1 tbsp chocolate flavoured almonds milk, 1 scoop flavoured protein powder and 5-7 ice cubes. Blend for 30-45 seconds until mixed properly. Serve in a tall glass and enjoy!

Oats shake = In a blender, add ¼ cup steel rolled plain oats, 2 tbsp creamy peanut butter, 1 peeled banana and ½ cup plain soy or skim milk. Blend for 30 seconds and stir with a spoon. Then blend again for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Transfer to a glass and enjoy.

Apple Smoothie = Put ½ cup soy milk, 3 tbsp vanilla or plain yogurt, 1 medium apple peeled and chopped, 2 tbsp cashew butter and 3-4 ice cubes in a blender and blend for 1 minute until smooth. Pour it in a glass and enjoy. You can also add a slice of apple pie to the smoothie if you like.

Almond Butter Shake = Take a blender jar and put in 1 ripe peeled and frozen banana, 1 cup plain almond milk, 1 tbsp plain almond butter and 1 tbsp chia seeds. Blend the ingredients until the shake is ready and serve immediately. You can also add vanilla, cinnamon powder, matcha powder, cacao powder etc. as per your preference.

Pumpkin Spice Protein Shake = Take a blender jar and blend everything below and serve
⅓ cup pumpkin puree
1 medium to large ripe frozen banana, broken into chunks
½ cup lite coconut milk
1 scoop pumpkin seed protein powder
1 teaspoon maple syrup
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
8 to 10 drops vanilla or your favorite sweetener, to taste
Generous pinch salt

I like to make a smoothie with yogurt (there are a few yogurts made with almond milk or oat milk) or kefir, blueberries or banana or any other fruit you tolerate , then add your choice of resistant starch, chia seeds, collagen peptides, glutamine, etc. I thin it out with kombucha. When I was flaring and needed protein I added a plant based protein powder, being careful to not use one with whey. If you can’t tolerate yogurt or kefir you could use a nut milk or butter.

I don't take shakes myself but found these threads:

Oh thanks for the recipes! They look good. The problem is that I am bed ridden and meal prep is really hard right now. Once I start regaining strength I usually make my own shakes and what not. Although I have to say, finding a good non-dairy protein powder is tough! Hemp protein seems to go right through me.

I drink an Arbonne protein shake every morning. It has 20g protein & is vegan & gluten free. I’ve been drinking them for several years. I use coconut milk and some other vitamin powders. They have choc & vanilla. I line to throw in frozen berries too.

I have found the Vega Protein shake is good. It is vegan, but that's not why I tried it. Just looks like the most healthy ingredients, 170 cal /bottle, some fibre and no whey protein if you struggle with that.
Can get on Amazon in Canada too if you can't find locally.

I had really great success (I managed to put some weight on and also had it as the main meal during a flare) with UltraInflamX. It is powder format - tried both the original and banana pine apple and both tasted OK.

I use a plant based protein. Shakeology.. its vegan made with pea protein. (They have a whey protein too.) I add a little cooked oatmeal with peanut butter and banana and its pretty good. I'm sure there are a few bad ingredients, but these days I don't know if you can completely avoid all.

I can't tolerate any whey protein.

Hope you feel better!

Organic pea protein isolate. I get mine from Trader Joe’s. There’s nothing else in it. It’s very low fiber. Maybe no fiber at all. Works really well for me. It’s also has 20 grams of protein per scoop. I can usually only get one scoop into my smoothie because it’s in the chalky side

It has all nine amino acids but I’m not sure if it has enough of everything to make it complete. It’s close tho. It really works well for me. I do half a frozen banana. Handful frozen blueberries, splash of juice/kefir whatever add psyillum husk or anything else that’s nasty that you feel you need and blend. Voila. I’m trying to eat my weight in protein right now and this helps a lot.

I've had powders with pea protein in them before and it didn't agree with me, but it wasn't just pea protein. Maybe if I try it on its own it could work. I eat a lot of cooked peas when I'm flaring, I like them a lot.
