Hi guys, long time no post. Silly question, but I’m in Canada and we’re a little behind on vaccinations... just rolling out to high risk population of all ages now. I’m not certain if I qualify with IBD alone, and not being on immunosuppressive drugs ( I take Pentasa). Below is the actual verbiage used by the government, in your opinion does crohns/uc fall under this... I mean, it does say genetic disorders of the immune system...which to me is any autoimmune disease, right? It’s just confusing because they have it under the immunosuppression category...and I don’t know if that’s me????

“Immunosuppression: a weakened immune response due to disease or treatment
Examples include anyone undergoing chemotherapy or treatment for HIV, genetic disorders of the immune system.
People receiving long-term medical treatment to control severe inflammation such as rheumatoid arthritis or systemic lupus.”

Where I am, Depends on the personality of your doctor. (I don’t believe I have a doctor that wouldn’t help me out, except for maybe one)

The county I’m in...just walking in and telling them your story will get you vaccinated.

It’s all about getting the needles in the arms around here.

I don’t know anything about Canadian governmental policy. So...I’m sorry I can’t help you with your question specifically.

Thank you for asking this question. . I am not considered a 'priority' for the vaccine where I am at and have not been able to get the vaccine yet. People who are on standard meds with IBD have got it though, including those on Pentasa.

I'll be getting mine on the 20th based on my age....I'm not considered in the high risk category. None of my meds suppress the immune system.

I'm in the US and in my state, any 'adult'...over 21, is now qualified to get vaccinated. I'm on Entyvio but my doctor told me it was ok to get the covid vaccination.
