How many people have oxalates on their radar?
Has anybody tried a low oxalate diet? Or supplements to deal with oxalates?
I’m just learning about this more deeply… oxalates are basically crystal like substances (that are in certain foods, mainly vegetables, some more than others) and are associated with kidney stones, but can also act on the intestinal wall as well, and get absorbed into the body when your intestinal lining isn’t secure.
So, basically after doing a bit of research, I am going to start taking Calcium Citrate with meals (binds to oxalates and allows them to be removed in BMs rather than absorbed into the body), and also a B-Complex, and a separate additional high dose Biotin (B7) supplement, which helps the body “Dump” oxalates.
If you look into oxalates, there is definitely a connection with UC, and also with SIBO.
In the case of SIBO, it seems that oxalates can create an environment where the body responds by favoring gas producing microbes to compensate for however they are altering the terrain. I believe it has to do with Sulphur and glutathione perhaps…
Anyway, is anybody aware of oxalates and have you had any success by altering your diet or supplements to treat this issue?
Antibiotics can kill off the Oxalobacter (oxalate eating bacteria) from the gut, making us have oxalate sensitivities… I think this happened to me…
