Hi,

So Im still dealing with this flare it seems, about 8 months now, last 5 or so with the symptom being blood.

Due to strange genital discomfort (male) when using rectal enemas and foam I have been on 1g Salofalk suppositories morning and night for about 2 months.

During this time, especially over the last month and half I haven’t seen much blood but I honestly think its due to the suppositories making it easier to pass stool by making it softer, in fact some days its way too loose and even diarrhea.

Anytime I have to push in the slightest, blood drips. I haven’t had too for a few weeks but last few days I started having some mucus with larger bms, only going once or twice a day.

Today it happened, first bm was at 6pm, slight pushing and the blood starts dripping. Makes me feel like all this time its been there and not got any better just disguised.

My calprotectin 4 months ago was 400, last month it was 80 but now Im seeing the blood again and feel like Im back to square one.

My GI finds it strange that its only when pushing as this would usually mean a hemmie, yet when she looked a few months ago, no hemmie.

I really don’t get it.. wouldn’t there be blood usually anyway even without a push? How come I don’t see it?

Do you not have blood on the stool when having a bm?

Regarding discomfort with enemas...what and when exactly did you have them?

I haven’t been seeing blood on the stool, however for the past few weeks its been very loose and that combined with the oil from the suppositories makes it hard to see anything.

Regarding the discomfort. The urologist put it down to a tense pelvic floor muscle perhaps from holding in the enemas everyday for a long time. Another put it down to radiating pain from a previous cut in anus possibly created by the enema nozzle.

Truth is after being on a tranquilizer for the pelvic floor muscle for about 4 months I didn’t have the pain but then again the supps made it easier to go.

Last few days I am actually getting it mildly when the bm is harder to come out. Its almost like a bm or pushing activates the genital pain, it feels like a throbbing feeling.

Im contemplating taking the retention enemas for the bleeding but I don’t want to go back to that daily discomfort it seems to cause.

Just do them at night and the supps during the day...see how you do and if any symptoms change.

14 months on rectal meds. Last 2 months morning mesalazine 1g suppository and nightly budesonide foam and still to this day I bleed whenever any pushing is involved during a bm.

Usually no blood in the mornings but simply due to the nightly suppository and the fact it makes everything slip out easier the following day.

Any time I do even a slight push I will instantly drip blood afterwards multiple times, this then gives me a throbbing feeling in my anus which even seems to radiate to the penis..

This is really getting to me now as I don’t understand how this many months of rectal meds do nothing…

Btw still also on Azathioprine and Mezavant oral also at max doses.

Still waiting to hear if they will approve a biologic.

Feeling very lost today

same happening with me only I can see haemorrhoids. Bright red blood. It literally drips like an open cut (iron infusion Tuesday) definitely flaring still. Starting the antibiotic therapy Monday. I’ve had no formed stools since haemorrhoids turned up

Hi,

My son needed the enemas to keep the blood away, the suppositories only reach so far. Not saying this is the problem however, we find the enemas much better.
