So, had my scope on Friday and well, I was planning after it was done, swinging by Wendy’s for a plain potato with butter. NOPE! They admitted me to the hospital! OMG! Didn’t see that one coming. Was in a MILD flare, no real urgencies a little blood on TP, stool and my stool not formed so normal for me. Kicker, not in any pain….wait for it! So, my colon is BAD! Hugely inflamed, 3 polyps, a stricter at 20cm, few ulcers along the way. BTW…wasn’t on any meds prior to the flare. I haven’t been in a flare since 2016 and just on Tumeric to give my body a break from colon meds that put me in the hospital a few times. Plus, doing perfectly fine, no issues whatsoever so never expected this.
Anyhoo, spent the weekend in “jail”, on IV drip (steroids, antibiotics), Rowasa, Proctoform and a liquid diet. Blood tests ran, chest X-ray and MRI getting ready for Entivyo because of this aggressive treatment per the doctor and my past history not able to handle the normal colon meds. This infusion therapy in my near future is scary and definitely totally new for me. Sigh.
Got home on Monday, same meds prescribed for a month now. Made some pasta last night which I cooked very soft with some butter as I am in a low residue diet (can have pasta in the list of foods) and today I have some tenderness in a few places. Thinking it is normal, been used to a liquid diet all weekend and have been eating soft foods but maybe this was a little too much? Can’t get full, TU Prednisone! Gah! Hoping the tenderness goes away by tomorrow and thinking could it be the meds helping those bad areas heal? I dunno. Did notice a slight bit of blood today after a good “soft serve” BM. Could have been due to that dinner? Maybe, because my colon is so inflamed, I will periodically see a trace here and there till these medicines start working for a while? Didn’t see any blood at the hospital but yet, could still have been there since my stool was a dark brown but none on TP so has me a bit concerned. Maybe, nothing to worry about perse since it will take some time for all these meds to work.
Your thoughts? Sorry this is long..just an update. And ….life MOVES on.
