Hi Quincy, I believe at one point over the last few months an infection was ruled out with a stool sample yes. There calprotectin tests I do are just for that specific test.
Ive been on the budesonide foam for almost 2 weeks now and no real improvement, just as I have a formed but thin BM like this morning, about 2 hours later I have bland/diarreah and drips of blood again and I just feel like im back at square one..
After the dripping blood bm about 30 mins ago, I can feel the damage in the rectum because I can actually feel it throbbing, like feel my pulse in my rectum.
I really don't understand why the rectal meds which are exactly on that area are not working, especially the budesonide as that is supposed to be the most powerful one right?
I was told to continue the budesonide foam until I hear back about approval on biologics at the end of this month so I will just continue..
Looking back on my diary, I saw that I went from 455 calrptectin back in march to 88 a month later when I was on prednisone and ending with clipper (budesonide) but GI stopped due to bleeding still continuing, the calprotectin results came in after that so clearly it was helping I guess but then again the blood and thin stools were still there..
I had my second jab 10 days ago and I hear prednisone is not the best thing to be on due to covid or even the vaccine as it may alter efficiency, however I think sufficient time has past with the vaccine to have created antibodies (I hope).
I have a wedding soon and small stag do in a few weeks and fear steroids would just put me at higher risk so...I guess all I can do is wait until I hear back on approvals and keep doing the rectals until then..
