I don't think the normal poster on here complains too much about the pro v anti debate....its just the lack of respect and abuse that both sides they hurl at each other. It's gone too far on HW lately. Glad to see the mods are starting to get on top of this.

Well, I care what you think, Poopydoop, and appreciate your science orientation!!!!!! In the past this forum had 2-3 moderators (at different times) who worked in science-related positions; I can recall one in botany and one in an engineering field. We also had a member working on a PH.D. in microbiology. They were especially good at nipping conspiracy theories quickly. Senior members who left the forum mainly did that because they finally got long remissions from UC then needed more time for family, worklife, and/or other kinds of volunteer work. (The mod in engineering field got very busy helping to train support dogs needed by handicapped people.) Then there are members who post infrequently when in remission, but return to update us every now and then; always good to hear from them. Most people who join the forum are cooperative, helpful, and respect the forum goals-- so excessive complaints by anyone posting here with negative comments about members, moderators, or the Website means they took a wrong turn on the I'net and need to back out of HW. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

in Poland, anti-vaccination emotions get very high and recently there were cases of organized anti-vaxxers groups physically attacking vaccination units

I know that some of the things that people disagree on makes you want to lock them out or put them in their own separate area. I personally think that it's important to not get emotionally involved when debating with someone that does not agree with you. (Very hard to do!) But you should allow them to state their beliefs so that you can show them the other side. You know that there are others out there that may have heard those things, then they read the articles that people link to their post and why someone else may not agree with that stance...and it can make a difference. Now if the post is dangerous, threatening or personally combative on either side...they should be deleted and that person may warrant further watching.

Sometimes it's frustrating when you are debunking the same person, over, and over, and over....but never think you are not making a difference.

I don't know how many times I have heard something, come here, and read everyone's posts and then been swayed one way or another. I see several people in this thread that have helped and swayed me multiple times.

I do wish the moderators could send the individuals that are acting up a warning email and not lock them out. Then if it continues...lock them out and let the thread continue if possible.

But I enjoy a good debate and reading both sides.

This is a Thank you to all of you and an explanation of why I think like I do. Why I see the good that can come out of some of those threads.

I know that for me....people have advised me to try different things, I would research just enough to start thinking about trying it, and then I would come on here. Poopydoop, Flowersgal, NCOT, Old Hat, 3x, CCinpa, ks1905, and a slew of others have posted scientific information debunking things.. plus their experiences and thoughts. I can not Thank all of the people that have helped me.

When I think of not even allowing someone to start a post or ask that question, it frightens me. If I had not located those threads that were "debunked" I might not have been cognizant of what the ramifications were/are. There are many people that are not able to look things up on the internet in the same way that someone else might be able to. So the threads, to me, even if they are an irritant to others, I have found benefit in.

So you all, being here, doing what you do...It's pretty important. I know I am ignorant of things at times, and that I have difficulty with trying to say the right thing to express what I am thinking...that my posting/responses have driven more than a few people crazy.....but we muddle thru it....and you guys save me from making stupid mistakes. I appreciate this group so much. So I dunno.... Without those conspiracy type threads I might have made some huge mistakes.
