Long time lurker, first time poster.

Been in remission on 6mp for 7 years but over last 1.5 years have battled fatigue, flitting joint issues, mild nausea, muscle pain and a whole host of mild chronic issues. Have been checked by a rheumy and an endocrine doctor and nothing shows up so the verdict is this is my UC acting up. Bowel symptoms are minimal just looser stools than normal with no blood and only little mucus. Have tried supplements, dietary changes and enemas but the low grade chronic inflammation and symptoms persist.

I feel I should now push for biologicals to try and fully return to remission because even though my bowel is holding these other mild symptoms are affecting quality of life after 18 months. Is it overkill to look to be put on a biological for these other symptoms?

What are your thoughts?

A mild flare is still a flare and could be damaging your colon. If it was affecting my quality of life I would want to do something. You have tried alternatives so I don't think going on a biologic overkill. Since you are having fairly mild symptoms you might be a good candidate for Entyvio which is considered to be one of the safest biologics as it isn't systemic like the others (it was developed specifically for the colon) and if it works for you you will love it. Talk to your doc and see what he suggests.

I have the exact same symptoms and I’m on Humera. But, the trips to the bathroom have improved to normal and normal stool.

I’ve been terrified of getting a life threatening infection. Maybe other things in my life are pushing that to the back seat but, I don’t care anymore. It does:t bother me as much as it used to.

Thanks for replies. Did your other non-bowel symptoms improve when you went on Humira, Island Time?

Have you had a colonoscopy? If not, I would try to get one. They are miserable things but it's hard to gauge the extent of our disease any other way - symptoms aren't always a reliable guide.
