Hi all, so i have observed this many times before and i never thought much of it, until now. And decided to do some research but i’m coming up empty handed. Every time i catch a cold, runny nose, coughing, sneezing the whole 9 yards, my UC symptoms disappear, and I can eat stuff that would on any other day mess me up like chocolate, syrup, sauces with milk, spicy food, nuts etc.
I explain this that my immune system is now busy fighting a cold so it stops attacking itself.
1. What is your take on this.
2. Does anyone else get this?
3. If so, then catching a cold could help put someone into remission.

Sadly if anything the opposite is true for me. I've had a few flare ups after getting a respiratory virus, which I think is probably due to my immune system going into overdrive.

I have Crohn’s (originally diagnosed as UC) and this used to happen with me, too. And I said the same thing - my immune system must be too busy fighting the cold virus to attack my gut. I don’t know if that was the case, but it seemed possible. Back then I was working in a museum that got tons kids on field trips for schools and summer camps and all their germs. We would catch one virus after another. But, I have been home on disability for the last ten years (Lyme made my Crohn’s go into overdrive) and have been in my little bubble for almost the whole time without much exposure to germs. So I don’t know if it still would happen now.

Yep, so do mine. Never put me into remission though. It was temporary.
