Did you have stool sampling done?
What UC meds are you on?

What I would do is higher dose multistrain probiotics and fibre supplement with food. Don't take Imodium tho.

thank you.
I am on xeljanz.
There is no sampling stool, they try to determine the bacteria from my blood.
It was unsucessfull.

How do you know it was a “colon infection”?

(Sounds like a virus to me). But anyway…if you’re thinking is it could be some sort of infection in your colon, you really do need to get your stool sampled. A GI can do a swab in his office or send it in yourself.

Recently, I had a similar problem. Stool and bloodwork showed nothing…and it passed.

you are correct we dont know this is a virus or bacteria.
But my diarhea is much more hard than my family 's symtoms. So defintelly clear there was some kind of infection but the effect of this infection much harder on me.
How many days did you need while it passed.
to me this is about 8. day.
After 4 days there was a very good period i thought that i recovered but this after it was more serious..
Now i have only liquid stool. 5 -6 times day.

If you started feeling better, but then your D came back, it sounds like your doctor should order a stool test. You could get a bacterial or protozoan infection from a food source, which definitely needs proper Rx medication to get rid of it. The test for that in USA is called "O & P" (Ova & Parasites test). / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

Eight days is enough. Do you have access to a doctor?

My D began after a course of antibiotics. It lasted close to 2 weeks. My fear was that the antibiotics had caused an infection so I made an appointment with a doctor. He ordered a stool sample and bloodwork. Both negative. Then the symptoms went away. Mine was caused by the flora in my gut getting out of balance.

Again, my suggestion is that a doctor order a stool test. This was the first stool test I had ever had and I was none to excited about doing one. My fears were unfounded. A stool test is a very easy test to do. It will tell you if you have an infection and if so, what kind of infection it is. This will help the doctor to give you the proper medicine to kill the infection.

Stay hydrated.

i have spoken with doctor he want to make a stool test this is ok and he would like to make a colonoscopy this is not ok to me. Because 99% that i have infection, the whole family 2 children and my wife received this virus or bacteria..they have less bowel and vomiting symptoms because they had no uc thanks to God.
I had more serous symtoms because my bowel is more poor because of the UC .
Maybe it is inflamed but the reason of it 99% is the virus/ bacteria.
I dont know my doctor what would like to do with colonoscopy?

Hambo, I would tell the dr that for now you will do the stool test & see what the results show. Once you get the results back then a decision can be made if a scope is necessary. When was your last scope?
