I'll second Straydog's assessment of weekend hospital nurses. Also Keith's, that you need to take care not to rush things. I detest hospital routines-- so, luckily, a neighbor advised me (based on personal experience) NOT to let them discharge me 3 days after trans-abdominal surgery in 2015. Some insurers push them to discharge early! After successfully pleading my case I was permitted to stay an extra day, when I finally got disconnected from rolling IV pole. I used my new freedom to test my walking ability in a hallway that connected to an adjoining wing of the hospital. My round-trip took 15-20 min. and I felt OK on my return to assigned room-- so I knew I had adequate strength to return home the next day. (5 1/2 inch vertical incision with 30 staples holding it.) / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)
