Still dealing with inflammation in the last part, calprotectin showed 2500 the other day, back up from 400.
Difference is I reduced Budesonide foam from daily to 3 times a week..

So now I’m back on daily budesonide foam in the mornings. Going on 5 months now in total..

Problem is every time I have a BM (which always bleeds) or even have to insert the suppository or foam, I have throbbing/pulsating pain in my rectum that last for about 2 hours or so..its horrible.. sad cant concentrate on anything.

Paracetamol doesn’t seem to help much.
I don’t have a bath to be able to sooth in either.

Any ideas that might help deal with this? I have an appointment for the middle of January to discuss biologics.

Thanks

You can ask for an antispasmodic. I use dicyclomine 20mg.

Lidocaine or Pramoxine applications. Some of them are now sold OTC in major chain drug stores, up to 5% or maybe a bit higher in solutions. I think there are some sitz-bath portable minis that you could position on a laminated or plastic table in shower stall since you don't have a tub. They would likely be stocked in medical equipment-type supply stores. Did your doctor recommend any bm-softener jelly capsules-- those things the hospitals give patients following post-surgery meals? / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

Thanks for the replies, very helpful!

The doc didn't recommend any softeners because mainly thats not much of an issue. Even soft stools make the blood drip and the pain after. Hopefully the budesonide foam daily will help until I get to see the GI about the biologic.
