Hi, been bleeding now for over a year with every BM. The GI says the inflammation is the last 4cm, it used to be just dripping blood when I went but now I get a throbbing pain afterwards that is horrible and lasts for about 2 hours. Its like I can feel the wound.

Lately also when I start to eat a meal, I feel something down there that needs to come out but when I go its just basically mucus and blood dripping. Seems to be getting worse.

Last calprotectin 2 weeks ago was 2800… I am waiting for an appointment next month for the biologic and trying to hold on until then.

I am on daily budesonide rectal foam and have been for months now but continue to bleed. Is it possible I am inserting the nozzle too much and its going past the inflammation? I usually insert it all but If its 4cm from opening of the anus then maybe I should just insert the nozzle slightly before pressing?

What do you think?
Thanks.

Have you tried suppositories? That might work better, or make sure you pull the nozzle out a little, I do this with enemas when the bottle is nearly empty to make sure I cover as much as possible.

I have been doing nightly Mesalazine supps for about 6 months also but where I live they don’t have steroid suppositories.

No...it doesn't bypass the inflammation, even at the lowest location. UC is not in the anus. The anus is around 1.5 inches ...the nozzle of enemas are the same.

You could draw back the nozzle a bit as suggested...i do it to help treat my hemmie 😁
