Has anybody started to get sudden breakouts of dry flaky skin? It started out on my scalp and is still very bad, but now its on my eyebrows, side of face, near ears.

I also have random patches of dry rough skin on my legs, chest.

Could this be the medication. The UC as Im still flaring (2800 calprotectin) or some other disease to add to the list?

My iron was down on the last test so Im supplementing that but to be honest ever since my last pred taper about 6 months ago, my skin has not been the same. (Still doing budesonide foam daily)

Im still on antihistamines since then also as I developed urticaria everytime I showered, went in the sea, pool etc… nightmare.

It could be you being pregnant and changing hormones, on topical steroids, taking antihistamines (my SIL had a rash like that from Benadryl), flaring, autoimmune, exacerbation from added stress....etc.
Have you used anything new as a body products? Any new foods?

We can rule out pregnancy since I’m a man smile but all the rest I check the boxes for so where do I even start?

My sig says the current meds and I am flaring still.

No new products or food 😕

It could be malnutrition from your ongoing flare or an associated or even independent autoimmune condition. It would also be related to a lack of water in cells or a lack of collagen production.

Better to bring this to the attention of your doctor and from there see how the body reacts and feels after your IBD has quietened. IBD is a systemic body-wide health condition with a prevalence for most, but by no means all, of its symptoms to be felt in the bowels.

All autoimmune conditions are body-wide systemic conditions.

Thanks. I will bring it up with the biologic GI but will see a dermatologist again beforehand as this may change the biologic.

In terms of malnutrition, is it possible to gain weight and be malnutritioned? Because Ive been putting on weight like never before lately..

Yes!! You can gain weight and have a VitD deficiency. In a technical sense overweight people with diabetes have malnutrition. There are many athletes in peak shape for whom a blood test will shown that they are lacking in a certain enzyme or protein and despite being super fit that is the cause of sub-optimal athletic performance.

Malabsorption is different and in that case the whole body-wise system is not thriving and you would imagine weight gain is very hard.
