Four (4) 5 mg Dulcolax (laxative) tablets
® 238 Gram bottle of Miralax
® Two 32 oz bottles of Gatorade

Usually I’m on a gallon of stuff. Is it a new prep?

My husband did this prep (non UC’er) a couple of years ago and it was super easy for him. So much so that I was thinking of doing it regardless of whatever prep I am told to use.

You can also drink white grape juice instead of the Gatorade. My doctor told me to do this since the Gatorade made me sick.

I couldn't tolerate this one. It made me feel like very sick and like I was going to pass out. It was scary. I have always requested the gallon GoLytely jug ever since that one experience with Miralax prep. Seems most do ok on it though. Good luck.

The reason for gatorade is to balance electrolytes. Hope the prep works for you. I wouldnt be able to do the gatorade either, however...I'm a peg gallon prep only regardless of what I would be prescribed.. Sucks that the unflavoured isn't available now.

Let us know how it goes.

quincy: It's still available in the U.S. I wonder if you could somehow get it from here? I'm a fellow gallon prep only girl for life. Lol. My old GI chuckled at me for requesting it and said I'm a strange one.

Yep, GoLytely. I got it unflavored last May or June.

Oooooo...I'll look into it. I can just tolerate the pineapple, but the berry coming out is a double ugh! 😕

Just thinking about either of those flavors makes me feel nauseous.

I used that prep recently except they only had me use 2 Dulcolax tablets. I hate gatorade and it makes me sick to drink that much so instead of 2-32 oz gatorade I use 1 32oz gatorade mixed with miralax and 1 32oz of water mixed with Miralax. Then I alternated drinking a glass of gatorade and a glass of the water. So much better and I didn't get sick! Instead of buying 1 big bottle of Miralax I got 2 119g bottles so it was easier to mix. I figure as fast as it comes out my body wasn't going to miss those electrolytes

Lol Sara...I hear you! I use a straw and plug my nose while drinking it, so the pineapple was the least offensive for me. I'll start enquiring soon since my scope should technically be this summer. I see my GI on Tuesday.

Thanks for that ino.

ThereAreMiracles-- the Miralax/electrolyte fluid works best for me in reducing side effects of prep. I start it early, though, by 2 PM the day before c-scope. Last time I thought the Miralax 238g bottle felt kind of heavy so I measured the contents before using. (Good thing, too, because it turned out to be overfilled by almost an extra dose!!!!) RE the fluid use: forum member Judy2 (AKA Jujub) posted a good while back that unflavored Pedialyte was a safe mixer so I tried it 'cause she had long experience as an RN as well as a UCer. It worked better for me than anything else. If you've had trouble cleaning out in the past (such as criticism of it by your endoscopist), you may also need the Dulcolax, but if you tend toward loose bms in general the 4 tabs could be overkill. The reliable test is whether you pass clear fluid waste by the time you leave home for scope appointment. Good luck & take care. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)
