Hi,

I went to Another state and again my UC was so much better.

But also, No yellow nose snot in the morning, no stuffy head etc, I come home and instantly all this. I live in a newer home too, 7 years old so no mold. Very clean place.

Can allergens like this nose stuff be a whole body thing and make UC symptoms? Or even cause UC?

How can you test if it’s environmental?

Sometimes I feel like I’m nutty, thinking it could be related.

Thanks,
Linda

No connection for me as far as I can tell. I am allergic to my cat and take daily allergy meds. I did not have a cat when I first got UC. I also have minor seasonal allergies. I've moved to and traveled to different states since my diagnosis in 2007 and never noticed a difference.

I’m one of the lucky few who don’t have allergies. Still got UC.

When in Texas during spring and fall I have congestion and daily fistula output. (Seasonal allergies)

During the times of congestion, if I travel to New Mexico, Colorado or to the shore by the ocean or gulf of Mexico (where the breeze is traveling over the water and not over land with plants and trees) the congestion stops and the fistula output slows down considerably. It starts back up when I return to Texas.

I did go see a doctor. He stated that it could be the lack of pollin because the breeze is coming from over the ocean or the state where I am does not have as much pollen/fungus/mold for me to react to.

Congestion does not cause UC. Congestion does cause additional inflammation so that could impact how you feel.

Personally, I have noticed this for the last 6 years. My blood work even changes when I am in the state where I don't have allergies. CRP. Runs at 10 to 11. While in Texas it's above 14.

If you have allergies, you should be taking an antihistamine. What hav you tried?
