I just made an appointment to get my COVID booster and flu shot a week from today. Our CVS was booked out a couple weeks, but our health department was only booked out 1 week. No walk-ins here.

Still No new boosters around me. The pharmacist didn't have a time frame either. The other place I called said they ran out the first day... And they were doing walk ins... No appointments. Sigh....

Hope you all find yours!
Clo

Clo,

Did you look at this site? I’m not sure how accurate it is. I’m getting mine on Saturday.

That site was accurate for me. You can also call 211 and speak to someone who can schedule an appointment for you.

Also, CVS said you have to sign up for theirs on the CVS website, not the government site.

My CVS takes you without appointments.

I guess some of them will and some won't.

My sister was going to get hers today but RiteAid had their computers down and they couldn't do them today. She's going to try on Sunday.

I just had my 2nd booster in August so I need to wait a few weeks. I think I read that you can get this booster 2 months after the last one.

Had the omicron booster Thursday at rite aid. We walked in without an appointment.
In my area, CVS has moderna and rite aid has Pfizer. I decided to go with Pfizer this time—mainly hoping for a lesser reaction—but no such luck. The body aches and low grade fever lasted about 24 hours. But I got the migraine again. On day 2 of that. Imitrex helps but doesn’t last as long as it normally does.

My first four vaccines were Pfizer but they only had Moderna yesterday, so I took it.

I was extremely tired and lightheaded for the rest of the day. I woke up this morning extra groggy. I’m just moving slower than normal today but nothing dramatic. Some of my previous Covid vaccines were much worse.

In the last 7 days I received the flu, shingles and updated Moderna vaccines. My GI tract is doing okay. Im due for my Stelara shot next week.

Flowers: Is your migraine better? Sorry that happened again.

Keith: Wow, that's a lot of vaccines in one week! Good job!

I'll be getting the Pfizer on Thursday. My first 2 were Moderna and I did flare about 10 days after my second Moderna. Nothing happened after my first Pfizer booster so I'll be sticking with Pfizer even if it was just a fluke somehow.

Sara—yes migraine gone now. It wasn’t quite as bad as the last booster. That time imitrex barely touched it and not for long and I ended up taking too much in too short of time I think. This time I had to take imitrex 2 times but was able to space it out. 3rd day it came back but not as bad and then eased off on its own. Read an interesting National Geographic article about covid headaches though that made me determined to avoid covid. Since I am getting migraines from the vaccine I can only imagine what it would be like with covid. One gal they interviewed said it was a 20 out if 10 pain level for NINE days! Yuck.

Keith you’re my hero! That is a lot of vaccines in a short time!

I'm glad it's gone and wasn't quite as bad as last time. Wow, yes, I would like to avoid covid as well. Bad migraines are terrible and can also really frighten me.

I'm probably going to postpone my stelara shot for a few days - My GI said that I could do it as long as I am feeling well (IBD-wise). I'd like for my antibodies to build up as much as possible, I know that Stelara doesn't knock down your immune system too much, but that was the reason for the mad rush to get all of my vaccines.

Got my Pfizer booster and flu shot about 6 hours ago. So far, no side effects other than a very slightly sore arm in the covid side.

Thank you, Flowers! Covid shot arm is sore but other than that, I'm feeling fine. I did get a migraine before bed last night, but I've been getting quite a few lately so it may have been unrelated. Imitrex knocked it out.

Good no side effects from both shots together.
How fast does the Inflectra work for your migraines, and is it something taken regularly or as needed?

Thank you. Imitrex is taken as needed and for me it works fast--within an hour. You're not supposed to take it super frequently. Insurance only pays for 9 pills a month (in the U.S.). Over-the-counter Aleve/naproxen used to work for me until I went on Humira and developed severe migraines. Ever since Humira, Aleve never worked for any of my headaches ever again, even milder ones. Kind of sucks, but at least the Imitrex is working.

Anyone know how long it takes for the new booster to reach its maximum effectiveness(7,14, 21 days)? I’m due for my Stelara injection; I had my Moderna booster Last Saturday (8 days ago).

Keith, I did a little search & came up empty handed. I would call & ask your pharmacist.

There isn’t a lot on the internet that answers my question, I found a University of Kentucky article from last week stating that the full effectiveness timeline is two weeks for the booster.

Effective time period is 2 weeks for the booster... And also for the flu vaccine. I'm scheduling out 3 weeks from Remicade infusion.

Today I was able to get the Moderna. I was scheduled for the flu and Moderna but they ran out of flu shots. They are getting more later this week. 😩..... I'll get my shingles shot in December. Everything is good so far..... I can't decide if I really have a headache or if I really feel tired because I woke up with both this morning.... But if it gets worse I'll let you know.

As far as not getting the Covid booster.... My daughter just recently caught covid. Her heart rate was up to 170ish. She was in a self contained unit by the icu for 4 days. (Because she had COVID and a heart issue.) They have gotten her heart rate down to 120 as the high...although it will spike higher if she does anything. The 170 was just sitting up from a flat position, so this is better. She is under the care of a heart doctor. They do not know if her heart rate will return to normal. They thought it would once she tested negative for COVID but that didn't happen. Now it's up in the air. She's taking medication to lower it. She had to go out for doctor visits (after they released her from hospital) and she struggled. So.... Taking the booster was a no brainer for me. (Yes she was vaccinated.) Please be safe all and remember this virus is still dangerous....

Clo

Good grief....

I don't know if I should be doing a Happy dance or not...

I must have developed antibodies this time!! I had the worse headache plus was so fatigued. That didn't happen like this with any of the others.....

Today it was suddenly gone....so that's good news. But..... My intestines are making the weirdest noises. (Usually they are quiet) and my output is getting pretty thin. Anyone else have this happen? How long did it last? And how do you know if it flips into a flare?

It looks like there is another Covid surge starting to percolate with the colder weather and spread from around the world.

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2022/10/07/1127017062/early-signs-a-new-u-s-covid-surge-could-be-on-its-way

This time people have a lot more immunity from prior infections and vaccines. There are updated vaccines designed against some of the earlier omicron variants - which is a good thing.

I got my Omnicron vaccine two weeks ago and I had fewer side effects than I had from previous Covid vaccines.
