I’ve only done 2 at home injections with Stelera and both times I have felt very depressed, empty and just not myself about 2 hours after injections and it last for multiple days afterwards. Anyone else have these issues?
It goes away but man I feel terrible, tired, mad at the world and a real pain in the @$$ to be around. Thanks.

I’ve been on it for years but I always do mine on a weekend right before bed. I’m not sure about the depression part but maybe I just sleep through it.

I've heard of people on Humira getting bad anxiety, even panic attacks. It's possible. I like Keith's suggestion to try it before bed.

This is more of a situational issue. Do you dread giving yourself the shot, or get a little stressed over it. Having to give yourself a shot may be a bit of a trigger to remind you of having the disease too. I think Keith gave a good tip of doing the shot at night & on a Friday evening. When I was on Humira, I hated the shots, mainly because I always had a fear of needles, I would let it sit out on the counter sometimes longer than I should have too. The other thing was it burned like hell, back then it was not citrate free. It took me a several months to move on from this.

Take care.

Oh I don’t dread the shot, doesn’t bother me at all honestly. Just for the next 2-3 day after the shot I feel terrible mentally and physically. Then bam I snap out of it. It’s weird. Like all the serotonin goes away and then it’s back 3 days later. Weird. Remicade did the same thing just not as bad.

I've also only had 1 IV dose and 2 injections so far, and haven't noticed this side effect (yet) but I did have this feeling of depression with azathioprine, and once had to come off an asthma drug (montekulast / singulair) after trying it for a few weeks due to sudden severe feelings of depression that I knew were related to the medication rather than what was happening in my life (it's a known possible side effect https://www.webmd.com/asthma/news/20170921/asthma-drug-tied-to-nightmares-depression) so there does seem to be a link between some immunosuppressive drugs and mood change in some people.

I had a Stelara injection yesterday morning, and felt really low afterwards but I put that down to the way the nurse spoke to me. I'll see if I notice a pattern when I've had a few more doses.

RyanC, it's 3 days since I had my injection and I'm very tired and irritable. I'll let you know how I get on with my next injection (probably in 3 months time) if / when I remember!

If it is a side effect of Stelara it'll be a shame because the Humira injections made me feel energetic, but at least I'm only taking it every 3 months currently.
