I just realized I first started getting UC symptoms around this time 14 years ago. First, just a little blood on the t.p. Then I got severely constipated. Then all hell broke loose, I was sleeping on the bathroom floor, getting up every 15 minutes, in severe pain, and I was seriously scared I was going to die at age 23. I found this forum and diagnosed myself before any doctor did. Well, I just passed my 38th birthday, and I'm still kicking. Hoping this Xeljanz remission lasts a long time.

Thanks to all of you who have given me support over the years.

Well done for keeping going through 14 years of UC, Sara!

I hope the Xeljanz continues to work, to give you time to get out there and enjoy life!

Thanks! Wow, 26 years! Glad you're pretty much in remission.

Oh, I also FINALLY lost the 30 pounds of steroid weight I had put on over a few years!!! I'm pretty much back down to my normal weight now. Still have the stretch marks to prove it, but they don't bother me anymore. They've faded some and my boyfriend made me feel good about them.

So glad to hear someone in remission! Must feel great. Not sure I made the right decision going with the Remicade instead of the Xeljanz? Sounds like you are doing real well. Actually could have pushed the Xeljanz. Guess I was chicken.
Happy for you!

You can always try it next if Remicade doesn't work. If Humira worked for you for years, hopefully Remicade will too. Thanks.

Sara14,

Oh gosh I am unsure what to say first...

Congratulations on being in remission. I am so very happy for you. πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

14 years...such a long time. It's only been 10 years for me in June. Sometimes it feels like time has flown by.... other times...like it drags.

I hope that they find a cure so that you/we do not have to deal with this disease any longer. 🀞🀞🀞

Thanks so much, Clo! A cure in our lifetimes sure would be nice, wouldn't it? Hope you are doing okay.

Congrats Sara! So good to hear success stories...every win, large or small, which makes a difference in our lives is to be celebrated. Hope yours last forever! I'm on year 24 with UC. More smiles than tears, so feeling thankful.
