Has anyone every had surgery to remove hemorrhoids or anal skin tags while you have UC. My doctor mentioned that no surgeon would touch me because it might throw me into a massive flare and end up losing my colon. I have pretty large skin tags from previous roids, they make it hard to wipe/keep clean and cause discomfort : (.

My first doctor said the same thing so I haven't bothered asking my current GI. I had a hemorrhoid the size of a walnut from my second pregnancy that left me with a skin flap. Sadly it will still act up if I am prepping for a scope.

I've had an anal tag removed by an anorectal GI/surgeon...no issues and perfect healing process. I would trust him to do hemorrhoid surgery if I needed it, but that would be more of a scary process for me regarding healing process and using rectal meds during that time.

No, but I had surgery to remove anal lesions from HPV. It did throw me into a flare, but my colorectal surgeon and GI both told me to get the surgery despite that risk. I'm probably going to need it again because they came back. They are internal and present me with no symptoms, but they come with a small risk of cancer, especially if left untreated. Hard to know what to do.
