So Ive been bleeding daily for over a year now. Been on salofalk suppositories and budesonide foam for 6 months and nothing is helping, the throbbing after bms in horrible.

Waiting for biologic but tonight I decided to give the retention enemas another shot.

However when I pulled the nozzle out it was literally covered in blood, mainly inside the actual nozzle.

The GI said on last colonoscopy that I had 4cm inflammation.

It feels and seems like my blood and pain is right inside the anus area, is this possible?

Will the 4g salofalk enema help more than the 1g suppositories?

I’m having the exact same issues. The burning and feeling like you still need to go is horrible. I use cream for haemorrhoids to numb the feeling. I initially had proctitis so my guess is that’s the last place the inflammation goes. I’m currently down to 10mg on my pred taper and symptoms are returning. Hopefully my entyvio infusion starts Monday because I don’t want to do another course of pred. I also had haemorrhoids from straining so much from being in a bad flare so it could be still those but the puss/mucous tells me otherwise.

There’s a possibility I will be trying Entyvio also soon, either that or Humira, depends what their decision is in Spain as its free for us (they tend to go with cheapest first unless a real reason to skip one).

The amount of gas I have this morning is insane.. possibly the enema from last night?

At this point even if it is hemorrhoids theres not much I can do right? I mean I was doing the nightly budesonide foam for 6 months and stopped a few days ago over fears I may be doing more damage.

I should mention my last calprotectin was 2800 so I guess thats not just a hemorrhoid issue?…

Maybe I should start doing the budesonide foam this morning again since Im doing the nightly enemas too? Not sure it would do much if 6 months havent…Or pop in a 1g Salofalk supp this morning, which would be better do you think?

Thanks

Lots of blood this morning? Could be hemmie as well, but the calprotectin consistent high number says inflammation. Unfortunately, enema nozzles are not friendly to hemmies, but definitely try mixing whatever rectal till your infusions....nothing to lose, and you might gain some relief.

Do you know when the decision will be made re infusion?

Hi Quincy, todays bm was solid in the morning, covered in the enema as usual, some blood on tp and some parts of the bm too. Then had a 2nd bm in the afternoon with some urgency but still solid, some blood. This evening a very small thin bm, some blood.

Tonight when inserting the nozzle again for the enema, upon extracting it, again it was covered in blood inside the nozzle. If I continued to squeeze whatever was left in there afterwards, a mixture of enema liquid and blood came out…

Seems like theres so much blood in there..

I feel like its just past the opening of the anus. Could it be happening in the anal canal? Or is the 4cm inflammation covering just beyond the actual opening too?

Just another note. When its a bm that I know will throb inside my anus/rectum for hours after, its always after a bm that requires some pushing. Not because im constipated, but because of the consistency, I can only describe it as the ice cream on a cone type…(sorry). This type the more it is happening during the bm, the more my rectum feels like it has a thousand cuts inside as its passing by, the stinging/burning pain is absolutely horrible and is what lasts for usualy no less than an hour and a half.. daily

Not sure if any of this helps but felt its relevant..

You have described my exact symptoms. Exactly! The burning for an hour after, the consistency changes are exactly the same. The blood on the tip, everything.

Remember...UC does not affect the anus, but Crohns can.
Anus is abiut 1.5 inches. Your inflammation starts at the rectum/anus junction. So, if what you are feeling is just inside the anus, it could be hemmie(s), fiisure(s) or possibly an abscess. A hemmie or fissure could definitely be infected...am abscess is infection pocket. Hope your doctor can take a look and verify if something else is going on...

Btw...Red_34 used to call that kind of bm as soft-serve..you described it fittingly, lol.

For the pain after a BM you could try the antispasmodic. I find it really can help. Dicyclomine is the generic I take. I take 10 mg but I beilieve it also comes in 20 mg.
