Does anyone have what I describe as a “burning colon” I’m guessing it’s inflammation. It can tell when I need to poop, it’s like I feel I have acid reflux from anus to throat. When I’m done with ll the pooping it goes away.
Can constipation make acid or stool back all the way up the GI tract?

How do you keep things moving at the same time, morning is good to get it all out.

I’m trying to go back to work, I need help with evacuation every morning like clockwork, what works for you all?

I’ve tried physllium, it irritates my colon. Now I’m trying a lower bowel stimulator to get things moving. Ducolax is amazing and my GI says use miralax, but you can use them often right?

No it doesn't, but constipation caused by inflammation location can change signals re peristalsis, motility, etc.

I sometimes have what I term as my bowels not wanting to move which causes anything I eat to stay in a lump in my upper abdomen and gives a very uncomfortable full feeling. I don’t get heartburn anymore since I started on omeprazole thank god but yes I can imagine it would cause that.

My GI has told me I can take miralax everyday. I do prefer stool softeners tho.

I’ve yet to have a flare that caused diarrhea or blood. Mine has been 100% constipation. I’m beginning to be able to “read” my body…that is…tell how much poop is coming out vs. how “I think” should be coming out. I take Muralax. Most days that keeps me on track. Sometimes I can quit the miralax and be ok. However…if I stop taking it and I get backed up too badly, miralax won’t do the job. That’s where ducolax comes in. Gets me going again to where miralax works well on a daily basis. I say all that to say this…

There’s been a couple of times to where I’ve gotten so backed up that when I eat it causes nausea. I’ll be hungry, take 5 bites of food and quit eating due to nausea.

I’m far from being a doctor. But, I don’t let that stand in the way of believing I am one. My 2 cents is…if you were backed up all the way through your colon and small intestine, you would know it because you’d be in the hospital.

But, yes. Constipation can cause nausea.

All if it makes sense. When (time of day to be able to poop in AM) do you take miralax and do you take on a empty stomach or with food?

Miralax after supper or before I go to bed. Then, when I wake up, I’ll have a BM. Whether I eat or not, I drink the Miralax. (I don’t think the food part matters).

One more thing…

Before UC…I could really tell if I needed to go to the bathroom or not. Now? It’s a much more subtle feeling. That very subtle feeling in the mornings…I obey it and go to the John. When I do this, I end up always going much more than I thought I should have…much more like a normal bowel movement should be. (Quantity wise). If you feel any little urge to go at all…and I absolutely go to the bathroom.

Miralax is your friend. See if you can use it to keep you cleaned out. Only use Docolax when absolutely necessary.

Lol…that’s my “prescription”. Seriously…I’m just telling you what’s working for me now. It’s all trial and error. I’m not telling you to do it. But, this is working for me. (Right now)

I use milk of magnesia. 3 Tablespoons at night right before bed. It takes 6 to 8 hours to work on me. I wake up about 5 to 6 am and I have gone. (Colostomy) If I don't take it every other night... I get backed up and nauseous.

When I have a slight flare it feels like acid moving thru my entire GI tract with severe burning where the "raw" spot is inside.

Have you had a scope lately?

Do you keep a food journal? I know that red sauce will cause me to be very uncomfortable for 3 days if I eat it. I had to start keeping a journal again after my last flare. All the foods I used to eat make me sick now. Who knew it could change after years of being the same???

Yes I had a scope last month, not too good so inflammation left side and rectum.
I just started cascara sagrada bark with other herbs , senna is rough in my colon but it works.
So I want to try it first just to see if it helps before I jump into miralax every day.
I need a “make me go or move my guts along” my stool is never hard just a mush but the evacuation needs a push. I don’t want to push I get fissures.
I’m trying to figure out what will work to get all my poop out in the morning so I can work all day. I’ve been off work for so long I want to go back. I have such a beautiful opportunity for a new job but it’s a lot of standing. Thanks all for wiring back.
