Hi everyone,

Hope all well.

So my son has been great, 1/2 movements per day, formed, no pain etc.

He then gets 1800 in a calprotectin test which has really worried me!

Still on the enemas every second night, will move to every night again!

Doing another test to make sure however, why so high with no symptoms ?!

Hi...I've never had a calprotectin test...what is your son's number in the normal range for him? Seems another test would be helpful to see if it's a consistent number. How often does he get them?

Good to hear he's doing much better...is he on oral mesalamine, and how much?

Hi quicy, hope your well.

He is just on the enemas the now, the oral stuff seemed to be causing more blood !

We have another appointment soon, currently it’s like he does not even have colitis symptom wise but then his reading comes back at 1800!

Normal is meant to be like 50.

He has been over 1000 before but never that high.

Hi...Im doing OK UC-wise. I have my c-scope on May 6. Time has flown!

When was the oral dropped, what exactly and what dosage? And he was flaring at the time, correct?
I suggest you try it again since he's not having any bleeding issues at this point...at least it can be confirmed.

I would say his number is high possibly because of no upper coverage.

Has he taken any NSAIDs recently? That can cause elevated numbers. Otherwise definitely do a repeat test.

Fecal calprotectin is most sensitive to rectal inflammation, it would be surprising to get a score that high for inflammation higher up and still no symptoms.

Mine was 4210 so is that bad? Currently in a flare. Had a colonoscopy and yes I still have moderate to severe colitis inflammation to 35cm. I think he’s fine. I had biopsy and the whole 9 yards. All good just elevated numbers do to inflammation with colitis. Hope that helps. Good luck.

When i was flaring I had values in the range 1000-2000.

In remission it's been consistently <50. I measure it every 2-3 months.
