Hello everyone,

I just had my 3rd colonoscopy on 04/12/22. I switched to a new Dr after moving to Ohio. Found inflammation in the rectum area only with an additional diagnosis of hemorrhoids. Dr advised Hemorrhoid banding. I just received the tissue exam results and my new Dr is on vacation until 05/01. I am a little concerned about the results. I appreciate any help regarding the same. Thank you all!
Final Diagnosis
A. Colon, ascending, biopsy:
- Colonic mucosa with no diagnostic alteration.
B. Colon, descending, biopsy:
- Colonic mucosa with no diagnostic alteration.
C. Rectum, biopsy:
- Rectal mucosa with moderate chronic active proctitis.
- Negative for granulomas and dysplasia.

I'd expect a diagnosis of moderate severity, Ulcerative Colitis, with Proctitis extent. Proctitis means rectal only inflammation. The rest of your large intestine (ascending and descending colon) was normal.

Inflammation is graded mild, moderate, or severe.

Chronic means the inflammation is an IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), chronic architectual changes to your cells were found.

Active means you're currently flaring.

You don't have granulomas, a Crohn's finding.

You don't have dysplasia (precancerous changes to your cells).

The majority of UC Proctitis cases are easily treated and don't result in difficult cases. There's always a few outliers and exceptions.

Ditto re your compliment of ipoop 🙂

I suggest you request the 4g retention enema to deal with your flare and not only the suppositories. Let us know how you're doing.

Thank you Quincy.

I am seeing the Dr on 05/02. I will request him to prescribe the retention enema. He feels that treating the hemorrhoids will help a lot along with the oral Mesalamine 4.8 g daily.
