I went to the doctor again Friday. No one in the lobby (patient or receptionist) was wearing a mask. The young lady at the front desk smiled and told me... Oh you don't have to wear a mask. I just looked at her and said.. That's ok. I'll keep mine on. She looked at me like I was crazy. Then I went to the back... Every Dr., PA., Nurse had on a N95. And when they came into my little room they said"Oh you don't have to wear a mask" and when I said... "But you are wearing a mask" their eyes crinkled and they said. "Oh but I am a health care professional." I just smiled and said " Mine stays on." I am still trying to understand their reasoning.

I am so relieved that I am retired and do not have to go out and about. I just could not do it. Add in the "Monkey Pox" and I am ready to dress up in a hazmat suit when I go out. That stuff is as scarey as COVID.

2 doctor appointments next week. I am going to ask about Evusheld again. If I can't get it here I will try my doctor's in Colorado. It should not be this hard.... My ID said he think this next shot will really increase my antibodies...and after that if they fall off again I will need yet another booster or Evusheld. What???

At least with Monkey Pox it’s not a novel virus. They have a vaccine that can even be given post exposure plus they have some treatments. All are for small pox but work on monkey pox. Plus it sounds like it’s not an asymptomatic illness.

I read the Monkeypox vaccine is a live one. So, I am not sure if all of us on biologics could safely receive it or not. I haven't looked into this at all, just saw a post on reddit by a medical professional mentioning this same question.

Yep, the news articles fail to mention that the monkeypox vaccine is live or live-attenuated and there is no data on whether it is safe to give to patients on biologics or jak inhibitors, which means most of us can't get vaccinated 😵

There is also a newer one that was just approved before COVID and it’s not live. The original one was live.

I'm not too worried about the Monkeypox, it is being transmitted through a small subset of the population and we already have vaccines and treatments if it becomes an epidemic. This wasn't the case when Covid-19 appeared on the scene.

Rant here.....

I went into see the rheumatologist today. Not a mask seen. Apparently you only have to put them on when you actually walk into the doctor's office. You can walk around the building and ride the elevator coughing and hacking away.... But that's ok cause somehow those masks coming in in the doctor's office are going to help soooo many people. 👿👿👿😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬

AND... No Evusheld if you have developed antibodies. I have to go in to the pharmacy to get another booster instead. (It's like all the doctors have group think) Apparently.... You can get a booster every 6 months now? Is that even right?. That's what one of her staff said... She just said she'd call the pharmacy so I could get another booster.

I just read about monkey pox Keith. I wasn't able to find out if the vaccines were "live" though.

So I misspoke. I follow some doctors on Twitter and they said it the new one would be ok for immunocompromised. But I guess it is live but non-replicating.

The vaccine is for smallpox, and it's live.

I do, but since I got a cold anyway. Got it from somewhere, and I'm so careful re masking, handwashing, sanitising, what I touch, etc. But I was in a restaurant after my c-scope that was busy and some servers and many customers weren't wearing masks. All wore masks in all 3 dr clinics I was in that week. Sigh.

Today I experienced something very frightening. I went to the orthopedic surgeon (1st time there new hospital), office in a nice town, wore my immune compromised shirt. Got out of my car and there was a lady that had on a mask screaming at another mask less lady. They got into a knock down drag out fight in the parking garage. By the time I got the security guard they had stopped... But one had a huge lip and the other a swelling eye. The maskless lady said " What are you looking at... Nasty word" The guard told her she had to leave or they were calling the police. She gave me the meanest ugliest look. The guard walked me out to my car after my appointment.. And then a dark jeep followed me out of the garage for an hour and a half... Out to the middle of nowhere and then back to the city. I went thru multiple neighborhoods, stopped and went thru a drive thru...another drive thru...out to the country and then back to a city neighborhood. I finally lost them in a neighborhood. I drove on to closer to where I really live and got out to look for tracking devices. I didn't find any. But this really really scared me. I don't know if the two are related. Maybe I am paranoid....but it was the same car, same tag. I took pictures with my phone when we came to a red light. I put the phone on front picture, put it on the sticky thing that puts it on the dash or window facing the back and took pictures. They didn't do anything illegal. They did not try to stop me in town and they just followed me out in the country.

This COVID stuff and wearing a mask has divided us and made us intolerant.... And maybe paranoid.

Be safe guys

Clo

P.S. No on the Evusheld...☹️.... I meant both docs. Sorry.

I guess they could have been just going for a drive---but I was trying to lose them and still they kept popping up. Same 4 guys in the same vehicle wearing the same clothes.

Be safe out there guys.

Wow Clo...are you sure the backseat driver wasn't a rooster?
What an experience...the fight was bad enough, then being followed for such an extended period of time would no doubt have been unnerving. I would never have thought about a tracking device...how did you check?
It's a relief that there were no firther issues.

I believe that many many people have had their coping and tolerance stretched to the limit...without enough recuperation time between personal or public crisis events right in our face daily. Everything has been exacerbated tenfold.

I know right.... I'd rather deal with that rooster. My neighbor has that crazy bird in the house and her daughters put a diaper on it....lol... I asked how and they told me to come see. I told them only if I could duct tape the roosters feet like shoes so he couldn't get me. He goes out in the barn this weekend. The coyotes though....they are coming right up to our house at night. I had to leave this morning at 430 and they were between our house and the garage. Pacing and yipping. I went out with the bear spray. They thankfully ran away. Do they attack humans? I gotta Google that.

The reason I was concerned is the guard told me there had been assaults/robberies around the hospital grounds and people trying to carjack others.... There's a large homeless population down there....right by a wealthy area. And since that lady/girl was so ticked at me the guard told me he'd walk me out and that when I left not to stop for anyone. So when I left I was really looking. Those ladies/girls were boxing like men... Not slapping... Rolling around on the ground...punching. It was scarey. I've never seen behavior like that. I didn't know at that time...or now... if they had vehicles, friends waiting in a car or what. But the people that followed me looked like 4 grungy guys in a nasty older vehicle so it was probably not related to them. The vehicle smoked and made lots of noise. I just don't know how they kept finding me. Probably cause I drive like a grandma...until about an hour in and then I was a bat outta hell flying around curves on two wheels.

On the tracker..I called my nephew....just in case .. He said that I needed to stop at a police station - not real close to my house-explain what had happened and have them help me look for a tracking device. The police said that in the Dallas area they have been using iphone trackers, following people home, and then robbing or just stealing the car. They told me it's small and hard to find. They can put it anywhere. If you have an iPhone it will automatically notify you that you have one by you. They checked the car with me but could not find anything. They said there are other trackers so they couldn't rule that out. They told me to park the car in the garage from here on out. I'm leaving for Colorado in the morning so I don't think they can find it there. My cars not even a fancy car. So maybe the guard just totally freaked me out.... But they followed me over 50 miles outside of Dallas. I don't know why 4 young men from 20 to maybe 30 would do that..... Maybe that's how they get their fun..scaring older ladies by following them and then playing hide and seek. Then just driving off. Either way...I left my car in the local police station garage for the night. Small towns are good about things like that. They won't need the space til tomorrow morning...and they said they'd do a tracker check again tonight.

I do know that I am not going back to that hospital again. That Knee doctor goes to Dallas Baylor too. It's alittle further but they have security inside the garage... I feel safer.

Your right. All this stuff has made people go all weird and not in a good way.

Good news was everyone was wearing a mask at that hospital...except that girl in the garage. Lol. But my appointment was at like 7 and I was outta there by 8. I missed the rush crowd.

Wow, Clo! That would be terrifying! Glad you were paranoid enough not to just drive straight home. Peeps be cray cray these days. Your rooster stories are entertaining -- this event is just frightening. Thankfully you are safe.

People are getting nuts about the masks. Just do what's best for you. Here in NYC, some people are wearing masks, other are not. We still have to wear them on public transportation. I see a lot of people without masks. I just do what I'm comfortable doing. I think that's all anyone can do at this point.

I was driving a rented moving truck on a major highway when I thought someone was following me. When I turned off at an exit the car remained behind me. Back on highway and turned onto another exit and the car was still behind me.

I then pulled into a very busy gas station with the car following me into that same gas station. Got out of my truck and took a picture of its license plate. They took off pronto.

Well, the police did not find a tracker thing. I did call the Plano police department and they confirmed what the guard said I told them I had pictures...they're not great but I had them if they want them. So I am printing them out and I will just mail them. The cars in my garage with it's alarm on and with the garage alarm on. I did not leave for Colorado. I went in and had cortisone shots in both knees and I have had a migraine all day. Maybe I will wait to leave on Tuesday. Not so many people.

I'm so paranoid I did a COVID test just in case...it came back negative.

Stress....COVID and Crohn's/UC....not a good combination.

Stay safe this holiday weekend.

The new vaccine for Monkey Pox is called Jynneos and was approved in 2019. It may be used in immunocompromised patients. The FDA has a bunch of info on it and who should receive it.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, not just being followed but even witnessing a big fight! I find being a bystander to fights traumatic. Pandemic policy has caused a lot of mental illness, even in really intelligent people. I feel that a lot of it has been designed to humiliate, degrade and subjugate us. Logic went out the window a long time ago along with scientific integrity. As a result, things just don't make sense, and if one adheres to things that don't make sense unthinkingly, one may start to display unhealthy behaviours.

During the pandemic I had people confront me in grocery stores for not wearing a mask. Not even staff, just every day people. I have a mask exemption because my chronic anemia leaves me suffocating when I wear them. Even if I didn't have an exemption, I refuse to wear the masks on scientific principle. Anyway, people really treated me like crud. I was even kicked out of some stores despite showing them my doctor's note. It's no surprise to me whatsoever that many governments are implementing new systems of control at this time like digital ID. The general population is so loony that they are in no position to tell what's real anymore. Mass psychosis. Aside from my circle of friends, family, and recreation, I don't mingle that much with the general population these days. I am deeply disturbed by the politics of the average person.

I'm glad you got away unscathed, clo. A long time ago someone followed me around in their car like that just because I accidentally cut them off in traffic. I called my partner to let them know I was being followed and where I was. I had my finger on the button to call 911 but then I drove into a populated area and they went away. Some people are so entitled with their anger.

Van Jordan,

People feel strongly about the face mask issue. It comes from both sides. I did get a stink eye, raised shoulders, shrugging and nasty things said to me in anger when I went in to my infusion appointment a few weeks ago. 3 ladies pushed In front of me when the elevator door opened and then turned around to tell me to come on in. Terribly rude. I was using a walker. They almost knocked me over by rushing to the front of the line...where I was at. Their parents should have taught them better manners. They were maskless. After saying no that's ok. I'll wait for the next one several times I explained I was immune compromised so I'd just wait for the next one. Nice calm voice...said Thank you for asking but.... They all acted offended and had to make some smart a55 comment.. instead of just saying... Oh ok.
The remaining people in the lobby waited for the next elevator and said you go ahead... We understand you are immune compromised and can not help it.... So that made it better. Some were masked and some maskless.

It's the intolerance from both sides. The need to always say something snarky when you might not agree with something. There's a difference between trying to gain more information so you understand and gaining information to argue or ridicule. We need to accept that we are different....know that's ok, let it go and move on. I don't even need an explanation anymore. Just let me move away from you without any comments.

The world has changed in so many ways. Lately I've been thinking not all the changes are good.

Thanks Sara.

The fight was pretty amazing. For a minute I thought it might have been staged. I've never seen women fist fight before... And these were very tall large women. I'm a short round older woman with bad knees. All I could think of was... Ahhh I can't run away from these fighting people. Lol.

I just want to stay away from all the craziness, avoid people as much as possible and enjoy life.
