Hello Group . After seeing that so many people are getting this disease I thought it would be good to start a new topic about it.
I have had this disease twice and both times beat it with Metrazole , now my doctor recommends Vancomycin. I am a little concerned about this treatment before I take it, and wondering what everyone else is doing. My symptoms were bad but now have gotten better after switching from dairy to non dairy and going from daily Align probiotic to Culturelle probiotics , Any advise or experience would be appreciated.

Thank James

I use Fermented Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon in a smoothie everyday during a flare up, once I am back to normal I don’t 3-4 times per week for maintenance. It works for me , it is an anti inflammatory. Do not buy the powder that has pepper.

Vanco is fast acting and works great. I've taken it the 3 times that I've had c.diff. Flagyl doesn't work that well on recurring C.diff.

You need to make sure it's dealt with, especially since it can be passed to others through various ways.

Go on the medication...if that doesnt work, then do fecal transplant.

I've also heard that S. Boulardi (the yeast probiotic in Florastor) is helpful for C.Diff (and of course the effects of treating C.Diff with antibiotics). Has anyone tried this alongside antibiotics?

Oops--but perhaps problematic with immune suppression (https://www.gastrojournal.org/article/S0016-5085(17)36034-1/fulltext)

They recommend taking it with an antibiotic because it's a yeast and will survive while giving your probiotic benefits.

You really want to take Vanco or Dificid if your insurance will approve it, sometimes they make you try Flagyl first because the other two meds are so expensive. With recurring C.diff then you probably don't have to start with Flagyl.

I ended up in the hospital with c-diff & was given vanco along with a script once released from the hospital. I was given Florastor (probiotic) & took it the entire time I was on vanco. The only time I take it is when I am put on antibiotic to keep yeast infections away.

It's contagious so you want to keep everything wiped down with bleach wipes & do not share towels or anything with others.

14 days of Vanco did the trick for me. One and done!

C Diff can kill you! Cleaning everything, repeatedly, to protect your friends and family is critical.

James,

How are you doing and did you decide to go with Vanco or something else?

Most bleach wipes don't kill c diff. The CDC recommends using a mix of 1 part bleach to 9 parts water.

I had C.Diff and 14 days of Vancomycin healed me. It's a safe and effective antibiotic.
