The lab is about a 15 minute walk from my home. From there I was going to go to the mall and run a couple errands on the way back home. I was gathering all the things I wanted to take with me and was putting on my shoes to leave... when my husband made some remark about what I would be carrying with me. I realized - oh no! I forgot to pack my sample. The main reason for my trip in the first place!

I grabbed it out of the fridge and added it to all my other stuff. I called to husband "You know, this is one time I can literally say: I have my $hit together and I'm on my way."

I thought it was funny, but he just told me I was gross.

You clearly do!

He obviously needs to work on his sense of humor.

Funny!

The first time I dropped off a stool sample (in a paper bag) at the lab, I put it on the counter and told the person I was "dropping off a sample". She stood up and started to reach for it and asked "what kind of sample". When I said "stool sample", she immediately backed up about 3 feet like it was radioactive. She stood there looking at it trying to figure out how to get it without getting within 6 feet of it.

LOL, Serenity! Actually, a good thing that hubby reminded you at the last minute. When I load up errand bag prior to leaving home, I tend to forget something that had seemed top priority the day before. We have so much to keep track of-- it's really not our fault! / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

OT - I stepped on one of my dog's poo bags this evening while out walking (because she got her head stuck on a thorny bush and was screaming blue murder so i wasn't paying attention where i was stepping) it exploded on my jeans and shoes

Haha. I love these stories.

I always take my samples to the lab in pretty little gift bags saved and reused from gifts. The workers generally laugh at my attempt to prettify poop, but it adds a bit of dignity (and levity?), especially if I tell them happy birthday when I hand it over.

We have to find our humor where we can, right?

This is absolutely hilarious. Love it.

For those of you who have tried CologuardĀ®....

It's a noninvasive colon cancer screening test for adults 45+ at average risk. Just poop in a box!

I don't think they recommend Cologuard for those of us with IBD because it doesn't give as good of a look/results. My dad (who does not have IBD) used Cologuard and then his insurance refused to cover the colonoscopy he ended up needing anyway because Cologuard didn't show anything was wrong and he was still having gut issues. They said the Cologuard counted as his one covered "scope." Just a word of caution!

I will be thinking of all of you when I drop off my calprotectin sample next still (I'm still in remission but my doctor likes to check labs every 4 months on Xeljanz). I don't think I'll waste a gift bag on my poop though but that still has me chuckling!
