Hey guys,
Hope everyone is doing well.
Everytime I go into hospital for my routine Remicade infusions.
I have my bloods drawn on the day of my Infusion.
Nurse was drawing my bloods and one vial in, I started to get whoozy and hot rush throughout my body so I had a Vasovagal Syncope.
The nurse hit code blue ( how F....ing embarrassing) every Doc and their puppy dog ran over😧🥺😢.
They instantly checked all my vitals and where found to be normal just slightly low blood pressure.. I had ECG and it was good.

Im angry why this happens. Many times I've come close to fainting but managed to stop it.

Anyone had any issues like this?

Things to consider:
I'm on blood pressure meds very mild (5mg Perindopril)
I only have a coffee in the mornings I can't eat until 1pm.
Time to see my cardiologist maybe?

Thank you for your replies

It's not uncommon. I know of people that have fainted when blood is drawn. It never happened to me.

You need to eat a snack before you go for your infusion. I wouldn't think your BP meds caused this, I was on 3 different BP meds back in my Remicade days. You need to make sure you are well hydrated too. As Michele said people often do this with blood draws.

Always lie down when having your blood drawn. I have not had that happen but have witnessed many episodes. Lucky if you didn't wet your pants!

Did puppy dogs really run over? Because that would be pretty cute. smile I'm just kidding. Sorry that happened to you. That would be scary. I understand feeling embarrassed but I'm sure the nurses and doctors see this often and it's good they were there to make sure you were okay.

Getting blood drawn makes me feel whoozy. I have fainted once. I’m not sure why this happens but normally happens if they have to stick me a couple times or have to dig around. Sometimes I feel faint if I think about the blood draw too much while they’re doing it. They seem to think this is pretty common amongst people.

Getting the needle for my infusions does not make me feel faint though. Those nurses always seem to get the needle in on the first try to maybe that’s why or maybe it’s just because they aren’t actually taking blood from me.
