Inflectra infusion on July 18 was a new dose of 10 mg (every six weeks). I expected a big improvement. It’s been two weeks and it just hasn’t happened yet. The past few days things have actually gotten slowly worse. Going loose/watery/mush on average 6 or 7 times a day now. 3 am, 6 am, late morning, early afternoon, late afternoon, early evening, late evening. Not good. Each time, It feels like I can almost hold it in and it would pass, but then the urge to go, increases, so I go. Sometimes the movements are very small. But, still, too many toilet trips.
No blood, no bad urgency, no mucus, that I can tell. But that’s just too many times to the toilet every day in my opinion.
My next appointment with my new GI will be at the 4 week mark of the new Inflectra dose, which is August 18. He already told me, last time I saw him, this Was the day after that last infusion, July 19. He said, if the Inflectra starts to wear off I could go back on the budesonide. As of today, it’s been two weeks since I have taken anything, other than the Inflectra dose. Well, I don’t know if the new Inflectra dose of 10 mg, even started here, this go round. I really never saw any Improvement from the 3rd week of the last infusion of 5 mg. I expected a bump in the positive once I got that new 10 mg in me, but it just has not happened. I know I need to be patient. And I know some,of you have said it might take several infusion cycles for it to work. Next time I see him, I’ll beg for the blood work trough and antibody test a day or two before the next infusion. I’m sure he’ll say ok. We need to see if this drug is working, or if I’ve built up antibodies to it, like I did to the Humira. (Humira worked GREAT for 4 years, before I built up antibodies to,it).
I do believe the Inflectra must be working somewhat. I believe that, because normally when things are really bad, I’m running to the toilet each day with crazy urgency at times. And even, when driving, getting that severe urge to go, cramping, and, sometimes I can’t make it to the rest stop, I have to get off the road, run into the woods or behind a dumpster at some store, and squat and go there. Worst case, i poop my pants. And have to use baby wipes and change my clothes from my car trunk, right there. That’s not been happening in a long time. Urgency moments are very minimal. To me, that’s the Inflectra working somewhat.
I’m going to start 9 mg of budesonide each morning starting today. I’ve got to get frequency back under control in my opinion.
What do you think?
