Hey there,

I was curious if anyone has heard of silent colitis. It's something my doctor referred to in reference to my specific case. I've been in a flare since November of last year and it went away for a bit for a month since starting Stelara then came back, then recently went away after a second loading dose of Stelara and also, I really dedicated myself to Uceris (for only a week). The doc seems to think that perhaps the Uceris is helping calm the rectal inflammation which is why I appear symptom/flare free but it's likely I still have left-sided inflammation, which strangely, isn't causing any symptoms (silent colitis) though he believes inflammation is likely present. We will test inflammation markers in 8 weeks but I'm hoping there is just no inflammation and that it's the Stelara working and not just the Uceris, which feels like just a band-aid.

I have heard of people who thought they were in remission and then were surprised to find out they had a lot of inflammation when they had a colonoscopy. So yes, you can be symptom free and still be in a flare. I never say I am in remission until a scope confirms it. Just enjoy feeling well! Uceris is pretty safe to take ... even for a long period of time so if you need to take it stay on it for at least a month to give your colon it's best chance to heal and the Stelera to kick in fully. I have heard the Stelera works fast for some people so hopefully that's you!!
