My pcp would not consider a 99 a fever, it's odd that this only occurs when you lay down. If you feel you need to take something, take Tylenol only. I think your body with the help of the antibiotic is fighting off the infection.

Agree that you could try Tylenol. Try not to push yourself too much at work. Be careful. They also make those travel disposable ice packs that you bend to activate. Might help a little with comfort, if needed. Just an idea.

I left earlier then normal just too dam hot our. Noticing my muscles starting to feel fatigued especially in my calves. Picked up some 30 gram protein ensure drinks thinking since im not eating nearly the way i used too they might help refuel them. My stomach doesn't like them much but it's not like I can give myself more diarrhea between this bug and the antibiotics nothing is staying in there anyway. Not really having many bm during the day but the mornings after waking is the worst.

Glad you got to leave early. Might take a bit to regain all your strength. Make sure you're getting enough calories. Ensure will help with that. Mornings was always worst with my UC flares. Try to get sleep.

I don't know what you work schedule is like but try eating small meals instead of 3 normal size. Ensure will help, but I hope it doesn't send you to the bathroom more, you need solids too. Out of curiosity, you mentioned before that you follow the Fodmap diet, how long have you been doing that?

I would stay away from spices for now, you had mentioned putting oregano on chicken, that can act as an irritant.

I didn't always adhere to the low fodmap I just cut out things that I know bother me. Onions garlic powder or even garlic clove. Garlic infused olive oil was fine. Many types of fruits bothered me except strawberry blueberries and pineapple. Stay far away from high fructose corn syrup that stuff is instant diarrhea. So no soda unless it was Mexican coke a cola has real cane sugar. I was still able to eat a burger but I would get it with no ketchup cause most restaurants had the hfcs in there's so i would use my own. Still was able to eat fried chicken or even French fries. Still was able to eat pizza as long as it was from Giordanos the rest here make me feel ill. Basically tried to avoid things that fermented. Even different types of lettuce would bother me. So didn't eat much greens. Green beans were ok with me. No beans or lentils. Pasta with butter and parm cheese was ok for me. Just no creamy milk sauces. No American cheese. Aged cheddar was my go to. No sucralos or fake sugars. Real cane sugar only. So it was kind of all over the place but it helped keep my tummy feeling good.

I also notice the day I took the one prednisone my bm was less and bleeding was way less. They say don't take it at night cause it can cause insomnia. Anybody think it would be OK to take a advil before I go to sleep. I just ate so stomach is full. Going to take a prednisone with my antibiotic tomorrow about 12 hrs from now.

Keep in mind it's not a ton of blood I would say when I get that pain on my left side and I have to go it's about a teaspoon full mixed with mucus. But doing that 4 to 5 times a day. Tomorrow is Sunday so I can't see my doc until at least Monday at the earliest

One advil won't matter. We don't know exactly what you're dealing with yet, but ibuprofen and other NSAIDs *can* cause stomach bleeding if used long term and they're generally not recommended for people with IBD and a lot of people here say to avoid them at all costs. However, I take Aleve once a week or so with no issues and my GI doctor okayed that. Tylenol is a safer bet but does nothing for my pain.

Hopefully you'll keep improving and be fine within another week or two. The 3 pills of prednisone prescribed is interesting to me. One pill wouldn't do anything for me.

Sometimes the blood can look like a lot more than it actually is and can be alarming. Of course, any bleeding isn't good, but I'd try not to worry too much at this point. If you were to start having severe pain, spike a fever, and/or the BMs or bleeding increase a lot, then I'd start to worry more.

My prednisone says take one daily or every other day going to take it tomorrow then call doctor on Monday morning. Also went back and looked at papers from hospital it says acute proctocolitis. Every thing points to anal sex. I know I'm not getting any or giving any as I'm not gay nor am I into that with any body I've been with and at 53 I haven't been with anybody in at least 7 months. I'm just confused. I need to get a blood test asap and the stool tested and see what the heck is going on. Thanks again

And when I say acute protocolitis points to anal sex of course I looked it up on the internet and that is what some of the sites I read up on point too. Dam that internet. Wish I could go back to the 80s when I didn't have that choice to read stuff and then it freaks me out. Now I got to try and go to bed. Thanks again.

No, it's not from anal sex. Acute just means either infection or it could say that if you just got UC. I believe that term just means you had inflammation in the rectum and colon. CT scans arent really all that helpful with a diagnosis. Dont worry about some of the BS online. My bet is its a nasty infection that will resolve. Youre welcome.

Well here is another new one. Another hot day in Florida started work at 8am and im outdoor alot. around 1pm i started to feel weird but not stomach. Went inside to get in ac and sat down my co worker noticed my chest pounding fast. So I sat back closed eyes and breathed in thru nose and out thru mouth slowly why she was using a file folder to cool me down. I age lunch and was about to eat lunch before this happened. 10 min later and heart rate went back down. I'd assume I was overworking myself. My metronidazole dosent say anything on my bottle about sun exposure but after checking the net it says to avoid too much sun. You think it was the meds or me just being stupid and overworking myself. Or both? I'm home now and have been mostly home and out of the sun since this colitis thing started 8 days ago. On a positive not my bm the morning looks like it's trying to get back together and I haven't had any bm since then. Thanks again for all the input.

Since you decided to take the prednisone that is most likely your culprit, prednisone can cause some nasty side effects for people. When looking medication up, the best site I have found is Drugs.com.

Until you get insurance & can get the appropriate tests done, at this point it's a guessing game as to what your diagnosis really is. Getting on the net surfing can turn a person inside out & upside down when in your shoes. Ramping up your stress level will not do you a bit of good.

Metronidazole can have some weird side effects too. I believe it can cause lightheadedness. Were you dizzy? Not sure but glad it went away quickly. Glad you're improving otherwise.

Turns out this morning was horrible bm. I think my body dose not like ensure 30gr proteindrinks. Was trying to combat some of my weight loss and muscle pain. So stopped drinking that.

Very irritable at work nor sure if it's the meds or just me not feeling well and I'm just being a jerk.

Spent most of the day indoors so no crazy heart beating today. Hoping for a better tomorrow morning.

On a side not I'm confused as drugs.com says not to take dicyclomine if you have acute colitis? So that is weird.

Doc prescribed me 20 MG one in morning then I eat then I take the antibiotic and a gas x. Eat lunch and then at dinner I take antibiotic after eating with a gas x then about 1 1/2 hrs after dinner eat a snack then take another dicyclomine. Keep in mind I'm not eating alot but am at least eating sourdough egg white sandwich in morning soup in the afternoon and then fish rice asparagus tips steamed. So a pretty bland and not a calorie heavy diet.

Well see how this goes. I felt like I was getting better but this morning was a bit rougher then the last two days. I believe the ensure was the culprit.

You're fine. I live alone (well, with my cat) as well and it can be scary to get really sick with no close support system.

I never had any relief from dicyclomine at all. Are you going to follow up with tests from a doctor soon? Have insurance yet?
