Prednisone and depression

Hey guys,

I have UC and I wasn't sure where to ask this. I figured this would be good as many of you have been on prednisone. I was prescribed prednisone for a week at 60 mg for some sudden hearing loss in my left ear. I took it for three days and I started to experience severe anxiety and depression. I've been off of it for about a week now and I'm still struggling. I've never dealt with these issues before. I feel so hopeless. Has anyone had this side effect from prednisone? Thanks

The short answer: yes prednisone can cause mood changes including anxiety and depression. Not sure i experienced depression as a side effect myself because i was in a horrible flare that was pretty depressing by itself but it definitely made me more emotional
