Hi, folks,

I'm watching the news about new variants (and the estimate that 1 in 38 Canadians have COVID right now) and due for a booster. Had Pfizer in August, so I could get the bivalent now. But I've also seen very recent research that the Novovax might be a better bet if public health will let me access it after four mRNA doses--and now I can't find the articles!

Is anyone else tracking this research? Just trying to make a good decision. Entyvio doesn't suppress my general immunity much, I'm told, but it does suppress the gut/respiratory tract where COVID starts out, and my whole family is headed back into various classrooms now.

Thanks, all!

I went to their website & there is quite a bit of information about it's use in Canada, you may want to check it out.

Thanks, Susie! It's definitely being used here for primary and boosters, which is great news. My bigger question is about the medical research on its efficacy against new variants. I will keep looking!

I had the new bivalent omicron booster in October. Got covid at Christmas. Wasn’t very sick which was a good thing. They say this new variant is extremely contagious and has evolved to bypass the vaccines.

I'm so glad your case at Christmas wasn't too bad! From everything I've heard, it's a good idea to keep resting and hydrating and taking good care for the next few months after an infection.

I'm scheduled for the Novavax booster tomorrow--got through to a public health nurse who oversees the immunocompromised / medically complex vaccinations in my city, and she agreed that news on the street is the older technology of Novavax may hold up better to the new variants than the bivalent at this point, which is already out of date. So I'm going to give it a go and hope for the best.
