Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has issues with nausea, especially after eating. The doctor said my biopsy shows indeterminate (glanulomas in rectum), but it looked like UC, but that may change. I have chronic constipationb(have had diarrhea issues in past years, along with uncontrollable gas...not so much now as long as I make sure the bowels move daily). Anyway, I am constantly bothered by a bad sinus like drainage especially after I eat. It actually possibly made me throw up yesterday after eating dinner. I have had this going on for a long time. I take prilosec but it never helps. Just curious if anyone has this.

RS2022, sounds like you need an upper scope done especially with sinus thing going on after eating a meal. You need to let the dr know Prilosec isn't working.

Good luck.

Absolutely, find out what's going on with your sinuses. An x-ray would be best and swab test to see if you might have an infection.

Have you had allergy testing?

Have you tried using a sinus rinse such as NeilMed daily?

I have read that there is an autoimmune form of rhinitis. A steroid nasal spray might help. Beware that some have a fragrance in them caused by one of the type of alcohols...don't use one of those.

Hope you find relief...i can relate to the frustration of continual sinus post nasal drip issues.

You know I had issues with post nasal drip too. It’s disappeared the last few years. I always wondered if it was related somehow to UC as UC is inflammation of the mucosal lining of the gut and I’m assuming the nasal passages are also mucosal. I did use a steroid spray that I got at Costco and it seemed to help some.

Get your primary care doc to take a look inside your nose and at your throat. Maybe see an Ear/Nose/Throat specialist to get a better look at your nasal passages and sinuses. A sinus CT scan might be appropriate.

The post nasal drip was so bad last year u til I went to an ENT. He scoped my nose and looked at my throat and said it was acid reflux. He gave me a skin allergy test and I'm only allergic to a few trees. I never went to go get the food allergy blood testing done (life got busy). But he also ordered a CT of the sinuses and that was fine too. So, I guess it's just bad acid reflux. I know that I'm very lactose intolerant (had a breath test). Dairy is on a lot of food products, so I probably need to be more careful. I'm going to mention it to my GI next time I see her, after I get Stelara. I scheduled the injection toon on a Saturday just in case I feel tired afterwards like I've read some people experienced. Just praying that it's as easy as the iron infusion I just got.

OK, good that you've had a nasal scope and CT scan of the sinuses.

The food allergy testing isn't reliable, so it's ok that you skipped out on that.

Have you tried antihistamines? Steroid nasal spray?

If your acid reflux is that bad, bad enough to cause post nasal drip and to continue even when you're on PPIs, you should have an upper endoscopy if you haven't already.

Have a SIBO test run too, it’s easy to do and it sounds like you have some of the symptoms of SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth).

I did have a negative SBIO test back in 2015. I have had a LOT of test after the main symptoms first started. One thing I do recall is being put on several different antibiotics back in 2012, shortly after having my gallbladder removed for low functioning. The Dr initially believed that I had an ear infection, but it turned out to be acid reflux. I have always wondered if this could have caused issues that I may have been predisposed to (my mom had some type of colon issues that resulted in removal of the sigmoid/descending colon.) We know that my mom had diverticulitis. She's older and just doesn't know anything other than that. But she was always on prednisone and I don't think that's the treatment for diverticulitis. We lived in different states at the time and I only spoke to her surgery on the day of the emergency surgery.
