Unfortunately, one of the many things we live with with this disease, is to be extra prepared for anything. What this means is sometimes we have to pack an adult diaper or two, wipes, etc.

Recently, my job has introduced mandatory bag checks upon entry. I totally understand the reasoning why, there are some crazy people out there, one might even be a coworker!

However, I know since I will be subjected to a bag check, they are going unzip the one compartment and see my "emergency stash".

Anybody feel this kind of paranoia or dread? I know I shouldn't care what people think, but I also don't want to be known as the guy who has diapers in his bag. (Something private that will quickly become public)

The security staff at my work are a bunch of jerks so I can see them making a spectacle which is super immature, but I've witnessed others with less get their ridicule.

Do you have a HR Dept? I’m seriously annoyed that security check staff should be allowed to be “jerks” and ridicule people for what’s in their bag.

Another option would be to draw them aside and tell them your medical history or diagnosis or maybe print something out?

I’m sorry and I totally sympathize with your feelings. I remember feeling horribly degraded by the whole adult diapers thing. But sometimes holding that in only makes it bigger inside than it really needs to be if you know what I mean. Telling more people about your condition and status could spread more understanding. My problem is I don’t want other peoples sympathy but mayking a joke or two (not making light of it tho) is my coping mechanism.

That said, seriously you or someone from HR or management need a talk with the security team because that’s not cool.

Yeah it's pretty easy to say "Who cares what anyone thinks!" But at the workplace especially, you want to keep some things private.

Can you mail them to yourself? And leave the kit onsite.
