Hey Quincy, Susiebuddy is back after being gone for a bit. I don't know if you have seen her post, but she has a question to ask you.

Quincy, after you advise Susiebuddy, please update us on your joint situation. I'm hoping you got relief. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

OH...I fired my chiropractor after 30 years. His rudeness to me over the past 3 years has been difficult. I don't have a habit of sucking it up, but it was a means to an end, so so to say, for my maintenance woes. He could/would not help with my hips or answer my questions as I needed. Once Covid hit, his anti-everything shot into high gear. When I mentioned I had dry needling done, he said absolutely nothing!!! Wth?
Sooo, I bided my time over the last year while he decided to lower his hours to 2 days per week and when to retire. The last time I was there, after I had Covid, and I pretty much got the "you know the rapid tests are useless and that blah, blah, blah....". His anger was so OTT, I thought he was going to blow, when I asked how he was the only one who knows that.
When I stated I wasn't coming back EVER, he was nonresponsive, and when I mentioned a few things of how his attitude and rotten disposition has been, I was shocked I didnt swear once. I do regret not mentioning a few more things...like his energy is very bad, he's lost his focus on patient care, and he should retire and seek anger management etc.

I have a new chiro (same Sports Clinic as my Sports doc and dry needling practitioner), but given my obvious neck issues, he's reluctant to do certain adjustments because of possible not so good outcomes. I'm frustrated, but will take it as a new experience and see where it leads. I have no energy to hunt for what I need because I dont know what he has to offer yet.

My hips are pretty good...however, I have been very neglectful in doing my exercises. My dry needling practitioner is on mat-leave till the end of the year, but she gave me the name of another recommendation. Because of that, I'm not fearful of ever heading to where I was before. The relief has been a miracle for me...but the exercises will give me more of where I need to be for strength in my aging years. The main issue diagnosis...ileopsoas muscle and the smaller muscles compensating. Basically, snowball effect.

Thank you for asking...💚

Happy to hear you got some relief from dry needling! It has been amazing for my lower back issues. I combine it with yoga for training the muscles. You could also try dry needling for your neck/shoulder area? I can understand the reluctance for chiropractic adjustments there.

Pd...I would have tried it if she didn't go on mat-leave. My now chiro did suggest acupuncture for some of the issues in my neck and shoulders, but he doesn't do it....interestingly my past chiro did it, but didnt offer it. 🙄 But I always got relief for my neck and shoulders etc through adjustments.

Glad your hips are doing better. Think about how you can work the recommended exercises into daily must-do activities. I understand the need for practicality and motivation affecting that choice because I've found myself thinking: "Well, I don't have time right now to do the exercises, but will get back to them tomorrow." Dangerous. Sometimes I promise myself a snack afterward for doing them or even a cat-nap, bad, bad. My doctors all advise that we need to keep moving as we age into seniorhood-- so it's best to stay psyched for some level of regular exercise and keep at it. Hang in there!!!!!! / Old Hat (40+ years with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

Q, glad to read your hips are better & that you know what to do to help yourself. I've had bouts of bursitis & it just sucks! Several years ago I fell on a thin layer of ice, the driveway looked wet, well it wasn't. Ever since then it has affected my left hip. Being stubborn I refused to go to the dr, figured since I could move nothing was broken, lol.

What a jerk your old chiro turned into. Sometimes I think when these guys get up in age they know they should retire but no one at home wants to be around them either. I do hope the new chiro can help you. I will say kudos to him for opting not to do certain things with your neck, my hat is off to him. I had one that I went to for quite some time that was that way.

I have done acupuncture before & it worked very well on my neck. This was in the 80's, I got a whiplash from an accident. The dr I saw went to China & studied under a guru over there. He did the traditional Chinese method with the needles, I was terrified because back then I was terrified of needles. As it turn out it was painless, lol. I know some chiro use a hand held device & call it acupuncture, it is not the same thing.

I hope you have good luck with this new guy.

Thanks Susie...I can relate to falling. I'm sure some of my issues are from the many times it's happened. I call it Body Shaping by Heather 🙄

I'll update re my next appt. I don't plan on going for another week or so.
