What are some of the natural medicines and vitamins that REALLY help with UC. I am new to it, so I don't really know what works and what doesn't. I have been looking around here and a lot of you are on folic acid and fish oil pills and stuff. I am REALLY trying to avoid any type of steroids.. at least until after my wedding, which is in two months. So I'm looking for some helping agents to go along with my Colazal 3pills 3xs a day to help me out. Any natural advice would be greatly appreciated.

The OTCs I have listed with my signature have helped me quite a bit.  Many of these are supplements I added as a result of recommendations from others on this forum.
Diagnosed UC 1999
Asacol (no effect)
Colazal (no effect)
VSL#3 (not enough difference to justify the cost)
OTC : Probiotics (Primadophillius Reuteri, 1 capsule per day), enteric coated Fish Oil (1.7g 3x per day), Metamucil (one serving 4x per day), Turmeric/Curcumin95% (1g 2x per day), Multivitamin, Caltrate 600D (2x per day), L-Glutamine (5g 2x per day, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and before bed)
approximate current BMs : two in the a.m. (generally between 8-10 a.m.), then one around 3pm, and one around 9pm

I have crohns-colitis, my crohns is affecting my colon and I've found much relief from the following.

500mg bee propolis (avoid if you're allergic to bees)
omegas 3-6-9
primadophilus reuteri made by natures way probiotic
vitamins A, C-Calcium Ascorbate, and B12
Prodiem stool bulker

My GI approves of all the above and encourages me to take whatever makes me feel better.

I do not take any oral RX, I'm either allergic or non-responsive...that's fine by me, I get no side effects from the above list and it's helped me more then any oral RX I've been on.

What works for some doesn't work for all, often it's a combination of a few things that work best, everyone has to find the right combo for them.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

For me, an antifungal diet/program for awhile cleared all my UC symptoms. No prescription drugs for me anymore :) I also took/take caprylic acid or olive leaf extract (antifungals) and Beta glucan to build my immune system. Oh yeah, I also highly recommend probiotics, a reputable brand.
