EEEEE!!! I am so excited. i finally got all my test results for my GI doctor back and sat down and talked with the most kind, understanding doctor. it turns out in addition to colits, i have a malrotated colon and a buildup of bacteria (bad bacteria) in my small intestine. BUT I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY. someone finally showed me visual proof of what i had--the CTs, the test results--i KNEW i wasn't making it up or crazy--but i often wondered about both. i any case, i have to take ten days of antibiotics (xifaxan/rifamin??) and obviously brobiotics. does anyone have experience with this antobiotic? or malrotation? mostly i am just happy--i feel so validated right now!! i want to hear other stories, if you guys would like to share...
thatnk goodness for doctors who take you seriously...

Isn't that sort of crazy? It's like yeah! I AM sick! Whoo hoo! :) But I know what you mean. It's always nice to be able to put a name to your illness and to validate that NO you are not going insane. And plus having a great doctor is what makes the difference.

I agree, I've actually been really disappointed before when I feel really sick and my test results come back perfectly normal. Everyone is like "Isn't that a GOOD thing?..." Well, I still feel sick and now I don't know why, so no! Haha.

Never heard of a malrotated colon, but that's interesting! I'll have to look it up now!

Wow...I know how you feel!

I'll have to the research on malrotated colon...sounds "cool"..lol!

What bacteria do you have in the small intestine? How did he do the test?

I've never been on those antibiotics, but I agree the probiotics are good to take.

she did a breath hydrogen test--i fasted (boo!) drank a liquid and they tested by breath every 15 minutes over three hours. a pain in the YOU KNOW WHAT but totally worth it...apparently hydrogen only breaks down in the small intestine, so thats how they can test for it (to see if it comes back up in your breath). in any case, i'm glad i did the test! even if it was irritating--definitley better than a colonoscopy!!
