What a week!  I have been dealing with a nasty flare and by last fiday morning I couldnt take it anymore and was admitted to the hospital.  I spent the week being pumped wih fluids, steroids and antibiotics.  Running to the bathroom and not eating or sleeping.  Finally Wed i started getting a little better and by yesterday i kept food in and only bled in the morning.  I came home last night, kept food in and slept good but did awake to bleeding.  Im an trying not to get discouraged about the bleeding because i feel  alot better than i did.  Im hoping it will slowly dissapear but Im scared to death it wont.  Im continuing on 50 m pred then taperin down and he switched me from asacol to colazal and i am usung enemas..Please wish me luck and tell me its going to get better!!!

Hi Lori sorry your having it rough at the minute.Sounds like you'd a fun time at the hospital:).Its a nightmare when you can't get to sleep in the hospital, the day just drags and drags. The Predn should kick in soon and if you are using the enemas they will start working soon too.Is this your first flare up in a while or has your UC been really bad since your diagnosis.I'm sure we've talked about this but i just can't remember.
Feel good soon Lori

I wish I could tell you that things will get better but unfortunately this disease is so unpredictable. I can wish and hope that you will get better though - cross my fingers, knock on wood, hang a horseshoe the whole 9 yards. Bleeding is usually the scariest thing for me too and it does get frustrating doesn't it? I sometimes think I'm doing so well and then comes the blood. Very disheartening. Hang in there and welcome home :)

I have had UC for 16 yrs and this is my worst flare since the original.  I hear stories of people as lucky as me so if I can go another 16 years I will be happy :)

Lori...hope you continue to feel better daily.

Did the doctor not consider to also put you on any rectal meds? Maybe as you start tapering the pred it could be an addition.

TheLori,

Glad you are back, but hate that you were in the hospital.  I had wondered where you were from your last post.  I haven't been on in a few days.  Hopefully your flare will end soon.  As I hope mine does, too.  I went to doctor yesterday and he put me on a suppository to hopefully get rid of the last bit of inflammation :-) Feel better soon!
