Just curious of how many people have enrolled and are eligible for the RemiStart program that is offered for Remicade users.  I just sent in my Expanation of Benefits and was wondering how long it takes for them to send out reimbursment.  I also found it strange that the program did not even have a web site.  In this day and age everyone does.

I only found out about it by calling Centocor at a general number on their website, and asking for financial assistance. The guy who answered the phone seemed surprised. For those who don't know, Centocor offers financial assistance with out of pocket costs for the first year of treatment with Remicade. Your doctor is supposed ot have the sign up form, or can get it from the Centocor drug rep. I have just signed up, so I don't know how long reimbursement will take.

I'm not on remicade but my GI is considering it and I can't afford it. I looked up remicade finacial assitance and found this site. It's a seniors magazine but the info looks like it is good for everyone.

I just found out I'm going to have to kick out nearly $2000 before my insurance fully kicks in for remicade

Does this assistance program have finanacial strings attached?

I have a feeling I'll get denied because of how much I make.

no financial strings attached at all. it takes about a week once they process your EOB. they send out a credit card that you can use anywhere mastercard (i think) is accepted. i just gave the # to the DR. to go toward my portion.

Is is only for the 1st year you take it?

My concern is I'll be able to cover the 1st year but than i'll be screwed the 2nd year or further down the line.

I don't remember where I heard/read this but for some reason I think your out-of-pocket has to be at least $100 per treatment. Don't quote me on this one.

From what I remember, the program covers the first year of treatment or your first 8 infusions. Kind of like changing your car's oil, every 3 months or 3,000 miles etc. I had a hard time getting them to reload my card sometimes, requiring several phone calls a week at one point. Good luck, I hope it works better for you than it did me.

my understanding is once your on remicade you can't get off.  Is that correct?

Even if Remistart covers alot of it in year 1 what about year 2?

Are there any possible problems with suddenly stopping remicade infusions?

Hi, I was told I was ineligible for remistart because I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs and any government employee with health insurance through their employer, the federal government, is ineligible.

Unfortunately my out of pocket expenses are somewhere around $800 per treatment. Having a family of 7, some of my children have chronic medical conditions with ongoing treatment, $800 every 6 weeks becomes a hardship. I was told there was no appeal.

Because both my wife and I are employed we are not qualified for the other remicade assistance programs.

I am very grateful that I have a job and health insurance but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Thanks
