Yes I think colitis could be doing this. I have suffered from gas a long time. I would have to lay on my left side to pass any gas. I mean it was so painful, I'd cry. Hang in there and see a GI or have you already? Maybe take something like gasX, it might help.

Hey calm down , it could just be trapped wind !! Which im sure everyone knows can be excrutiatingly painful .

I see you were diagnosed with colitis 4 years ago, are the symptons anything like the ones you were having when you were diagnosed?

Hope you are worrying needlessly , fingers crossed

Hi...when I'm starting to flare...the ability to fart is a bit hindered. If it's consistent, then I would almost guarantee you have rectal inflammation happening.

How many times a day are you going?

Have you made any changes to your diet as of late?

Did he give you scripts for any meds....5ASA oral and rectal to be specific??

If it's constant, I say flare. If it's only for a day or two and has improved..it was food.

You could be experiancing IBS too, it's not that uncommon to have IBS along with IBD, especially symptoms of gas and bloating, there could also be some female issue going on, have you recently have a check up (pap and pelvic exam)?

Ahhh....pap/pelvic exam is a perfect suggestion. Reproductive problems and hormonal ups and down could definitely have gas as a symptom.

Good on you pb4!

Quincy and pb4 are right. I experienced this 2 months ago. Ungodly pain! I called my nurse and she asked if I was getting my period. At that point I wasn;t sure because I had just got on the pill. She told me to wait and see because I didn't have blood or D. Within the next day I think I had my period and the pain suddenly went away. It was terrible though.
