ever watch discovery channel and you can hear the sounds whales make when they are talking to eachother, that is the sound that is coming from my intestines.........it's really loud and kind of embarrasing (I don't think anyone can actually hear it...yet), but it's kind of funny at the same time, thank Goodness, I can go home in an hour (normally I stay late) but I need break like the wind!

Your topic had me laughing!! My belly has been singing, too, I just never realized I needed to go swimming with the whales to get someone to talk back. Oh, yeah, and the gas, I'm glad I'm alone at work most of the time.

Just don't hop in the ocean anytime soon or the your gut might say something to offend the whales!

very funny...gave me a chuckle....great simile....side effect of asacol is gas, could be part of it along with our annoying intestines ;)...may your gas be quiet enough but amusing enough!

LOL - loved the title. Ah, but you haven't lived until your intestines rumble loud enough to get the attention of your dogs, let alone any whales! tongue

Can Asacol cause gas? I had such bad gas this morning, it laid in my intestines all night and out it came this morning. Now my lower pelvic area is stinging and tingling as I feel there is more. And my upper gut is knotted also with more. I am worried I have colon cancer now as my stools this morning were skinnier but I've been having normal bathroom trips though. I don't think I'm having enough fiber to go every day anyway. Need to increase that and see if things change. I'm glad someone can laugh at this, I can't for the weird sensations and discomfort it causes me.

I think Asacol definitely causes gas, every time I've been on it my gas is at it's absolute worst.

well, I hope my switch to lialda helps my gas, but probably not since it has the same active ingredients.

Doing much better today, good thing I don't work near the ocean b/c maybe that's how whales get beached, they hear familiar sounds calling to them from the shore  (no offense to the whales).

Yes Gas is a major part of this darn disease! Some days are worse then others and I think what we eat can affect it also. My cat and my husband hear my stomach. Even in remission.

I've been on the Asacol before taking 2 pills 3X a day. And didn't have problems with gas then. i am so terrified I am sitting here right now with colon cancer as my bowel movements today were skinnier than usual, I keep thinking about how it says they are pencil like with colon cancer. I've not had them that way yet, but over the past two days I've gone little bits at a time over a period of 3 times that day. But the day before that I went really well. I just keep thinking about my dog and his small intestine cancer and his not being able to do even a little piece at all. And that keeps me in a worried state and with a tense gut all the time. Not to mention, when I do go, and it's more than 1 or 2 times, it causes me to have spasms low in the pelvic area with stinging. I pay attention to every little symptom, pay attention to the way my movements look, and freak out if I think they are not how they should look thinking I automatically have cancer. Especially after eating I feel that catch come up in my side. Hoping that is a gas issue. And if gas is constantly trapped there, that could be because of a mass. I need for Friday to hurry up and come so I can get out of town and hopefully get some respite from this nervousness and worry.

When I used to have bad gas (not anymore thanks to fibre supplements) I referred to myself as having a trumpet-blowing butt...I swear some of my farts were so long I could play a tune...my family misses when I come running down the stairs and would fart when I hit every step....I sure don't miss it though, there was alot of painful gas I experianced for too long...glad that's all behind me now LOL!

This has been really painful for me. After using the bathroom I have bad spasms in my lower pelvic area, not to mention bad stinging, like I am raw in my pelvic area. I told the doctor this back at my appointment in July. My upper gut is totally tight. I passed my gas this morning and went to the bathroom really well, normal looking, but the spasm pain in my lower pelvic area is not pleasant. And the stinging sensation upon using the bathroom. I have been used to the spasms where that is concerned in past years but never pelvic stinging with it. But since I am back on the Asacol I hope this eventually will pass. And I have some cervical inflammation also which is a female issue and even though the nurse at my gynecologist says there are no symptoms with that I find that hard to believe. There are bound to be symptoms with inflammation in the cervix. And the fact that I at times have burning upon urinating, I would think that would signal a bladder infection but I had no bladder infection. It was clear. Am having no cloudy or bloody urine which would signify that. Should I take both kinds of gas relief supplements before bedtime to try and cut down on waking up with that? The Gas-X and Activated charcoal? Thanks.

Sorry to hear you're having so much hassle with pain/gas

I'm seeing an improvement with only 2 doses of activated charcoal (being careful not to take it within 2 hrs of the other stuff) The smell is nothing like it normally is and I've only farted twice today!. Funny how my stools floated this morning - maybe the gas is trapped in them!

I've read about something called Celiac Disease and it seemed with that that was a symptom of that disease was stools floating in the toilet instead of sinking. But not for sure. It surely will pass.
