I know one of the side effects is loosing your hair.  I never did have that side effect.  However, I am getting my hair highlighted blond tomorrow.  Is this one of those drugs that interfere with hair coloring that I have to tell my beautician about?  I hope not .... I am new to this disease and the meds ... haven't told a lot of people yet except for close family and don't want to feel like coming clean with my hair dresser ...

Not on Asacol but Colazal. If these drugs interfere w/ hair color I am in big trouble. Ha! Ha! My 'natural blonde' has to be highlighted every 6 weeks. I say you are good to go.

I have dark brown hair naturally....I think, I dont remember my natural hair color but every six weeks I get my base color and every 12 weeks I get a highlight and I am blonde. Have been doing this for 5 years (hair coloring).

I have fine hair (not thin!) and a ton of it. It's really my favorite thing about my appearance and I have not had a problem with losing it or anything. Sporting a Farrah Fawcett do today.

The only med that ever affected my hair was Accutane and it was great for my hair b/c it is kind of oily so I have to wash it every day and on accutane, I could run out in the mornings and do errands w/out a baseball hat to cover my hair.

Thanks Ladies, it is good to know that I won't have a problem with my meds interfering with my "natural" looks!

i never knew that asacol is linked with hair loss!!

I have lost LOTS of hair in the last few years since i was diagnosed and not ONCE has my GP or Gi mentioned it having anything to do with the asacol. It usually gets put down to lack of nutrients (because of UC flares) or the steroids etc.

Is this a common side effect of asacol?
