Hi! I usually post on the Crohn's forum, but lately my doctors have been going back and forth again as to whether I have CD or UC. Anyway, I have been bleeding for over a month, and have to go to the bathroom about ten times a day. I am tapering prednisone, but am still bleeding. I was doing Rowasa enemas, but my doctor switched me to cortifoam enemas. I haven't noticed any improvement after doing the enemas for four days. I don't see my GI again until the middle of September, and am at a loss as to what to do. Does anyone else experience continual bleeding? Thanks.

I bled daily for over 2 years. It was frightening at first but I adjusted to it. At about the 1.5 year mark I lost all my B-12 stores and had to get monthly injections. Shortly thereafter I was diagnosed with chronic illness anemia. Just make sure you and your doctor stay on top of the effects of blood loss. Try not to stress about it but be diligent in your treatment of UC.

Sounds like you may have to go to something stronger. When my bleeding wouldn't stop they tried me on 6mp, but I was allergic. Finally I had to do remicade. And that is the only thing that stopped the bleeding. Be careful of losing too much blood. I had to do several transfusions. And that is no fun. As long as your dr. is aware, you should be okay. I would stay on him though, I had stay on my dr. for over a year before he finally got serious with my UC. Good luck.
