I usually stick to things like rice, maybe a little chicken (well chewed), broth, pretty much white, soft foods. if you have a rice maker cook some rice in chicken stock or toss a couple of boulion cubes into the water.

But as we always say here it is trial and error. I can also tolerate baby food at that point but many can't. Good luck!

Farina, boiled white rice, toast with a bit of seedless jam, natural applesauce, water, decaf tea, small amount (4 oz. or less) of fruit juice, scrambled egg, ripe banana. Thereafter some dairy or soy for calcium, depending on what you can normally tolerate. Then skinless chicken &/or broiled fish such as flounder or scrod, cooked veggies with mild seasoning. "D" depletes potassium so it's important to ease some juice or cooked fruit back into your diet ASAP. / Old Hat

Katie..why are you not on any meds?

Start eating food that's easier to digest..but not eating isn't nor should be an option.

I think you're drinking too much water as well...since it will in itself exacerbate diarrhea if that's all you're taking in.

What do you normally eat like?

i'm on antibiotics to get rid of an infection in my colon/small intestine and THEN my GI doctor is going to start me on meds. we are still in the testing phase, seeing as i have quite a few things wrong with my insides. anyway, i usually eat lots of protien: eggs, tofu, lean meat and fruits and veggies. i'll stick away from the higher fiber fruits and veggies, but it sounds like eggs might be a good idea. quincy, does my response to your question about meds make sense/ seem logical. i'm curious to have another opinion...

Katie, you're in a very different place than most of us...please add what you stated about the antibiotics in your signature for a better understanding of your situation.

I think you have to go through the process for now considering all that's going on.

Eat as well-balanced as you can but what is palatable to you as well. All of the above mentioned plus proteins for sure will be of help. It all depends on why you're having diarrhea. Lower fibre fruits and veggies is good...

Antibiotics can cause diarrhea...you're taking probiotics (you can list them)..so that's good.

Take a fibre supplement to help bulk the stool..start low dosage.

Don't consume any artificial sweeteners..

Don't not eat...but do consume in small amounts every few hours.

What did your doctor tell you about eating? When do you go back to see him?

Looks good. Put lines one under the other rather than double spaced..since 10 lines is the limit.
For colitis..you mean UC? If so, put that.

I sure hope you get more answers..you've certainly been through a lot. What is the bacteria that you have in the small intestine?

i'm not sure, i just know they found it by doing a breath hydrogen test. have you or anyone else had experience with this test or bacteria in the colon? could this be what caused my D last night?
